    I remember a roleplaying session at Uni many years ago where someone's d20 was mis-behaving repeatedly. It was taken outside and placed on a waist high wall on the side of a raised slabbed area. Everyone's dice collections were placed in a semi circle so that they could see and learn a lesson. It was a solemn moment. The miscreant d20 was sentenced to death by lump hammer.

    All the other dice learnt the lesson well that day. Statisticians say that 'dice have no memory', but I'm pretty sure that those dice do.

    Step 1: Keep the jewel;
    Step 2: Cleanse the jewel with the help of someone specialised in cleansing the corruption;
    Step 3: Profit.

    This is inspired from the anime Inuyasha. The Sacred Jewel could get corrupted by the dark forces, but there are people who can cleanse the corruption and retain it's purity.
