Rather than dropping g gold, mobs drop certificates.
Players turn certificates in at nodes for gold, and the farther you take them, the more gold you make.
I didn't know this....this sounds really cool.
Realistically it makes very little sense that I would kill a monster and get documented proof of kill from that monster. Then turn it in as far away as possible to make the most money. Mechanically it is a great system that encourages Risk Vs Reward.
Mechanics>Aesthetics>Immersion. IMO

Agreed.
Immersion first = "Hey you are wearing a pink mushroom costume and are level 1! Now I am reminded that I am playing a computer game...this sucks!"
To be fair, they've already explained that outfit as belonging to a sub-culture that exists within AoC's lore; It's not un-fathomable that some players might like to identify their characters as a part of that sub-culture.
....You anti-mushroom-people bigot!
Definitely could be wrong here, but seems like an easy thing to adjust to add in that level of immersion, plus, it adds a diversity of materials. Systems for another Alpha, I say.

I am glad you posted. It made me re-evaluate this. ^
I think certificates is a Ashes specific term that includes pelts, feathers, bones, ect. Which is a strange new use of the word certificates for me.
The certificate system is not something I think is going anywhere.
It's also not un-immersive to the point that you are carrying a stack of papers like I originally imagined.
That is my new interpretation at least.

whoa whoa whoa...I bought that months cosmetics as soon as I laid eyes on it! I was making fun of those who act like that when seeing cosmetics someone else is using haha. Immersion first is a horrible way to approach any mmorpg.
Don't worry I saw it... I forgive you.

Yep, that's what I'm expecting. It's basically a term for a "drop" from a mob that isn't money outright, but can be turned into it. Cos, why would a rat be carrying a chair, right?!

I am imagining the look on one of these "Immersion Andy's" faces when a rat drops something like a chair in Ashes...
Chair Certificate*
