Using your European credit card is crazy!
Do Americans pay 500 dollars + 21% taxes also?
Why we are paying taxes in the first place?
Did anyone find a better payment solution?

Write your congressmen... Ohh wait... JK

Real talk though. I don't think Intrepid has any control over VAT.
Maybe try PayPal? Not sure how it works outside of the US.
I just looked at my last transaction though PayPal and I don't see anything, but the cost of the item.

Hope this helps in some way.

The taxes never have to do anything with the company itself. It's based on their country... and yours.

As a US company, they are forced from the government to collect that amount of taxes from people of the EU.
...and no, Americans don't have to pay these additional taxes, just because of how internal taxes in the USA work...

The payment option itself doesn't matter. You will have to pay the Taxes with all of them, just because you're located in the EU.

However, if you fly to America for holidays anytime soon, you could buy it while you're in America. This way you won't have to pay the taxes.
Also if you have a friend over in the USA, you could ask them to buy the account for you and 'gift' it to you.
...even tho I'm not sure if that would be against the AoC policies ;)

  • I remember seeing reviews on companies, where people complained about the import taxes... The company have nothing to do with that. That is just how our company works. But at times there seems to be ways around it

Woocommerce used to skip the taxes then xsolla took over and we pay the taxes. Xsolla are the main issue and I wish we still had woocommerce but the situation remains. At least IS is self publishing in the EU which was my other bugbear.

Even with 20% VAT (UK) I pay less than the stated amounts at the current exchange rates. Even with Xsolla. Its just not as cheap as it would be with woocommerce.

  • The Tax may partially do with the millions of dollars you have to put in to have a company in Europe as well. So some of it might be a tax so the company can break even as well.

So any excess tax to break even I won't fault them for because of the ridiculous costs you need to run a company in Europe to begin with. Also most of the taxes are dictated by the country in question. So yeah you are going to need to research and write a letter to whoever is in charge of that kind of thing in Europe. To tell them to lower taxes against America so that Americans don't tax them right the hell back.

It can be changed but it is the way it is now because of Europes Passive Aggressive tax laws.

The new Stripe payment option doesn't add European Tax. If you've been waiting on the issue, you could pay cheaper from Europe through Stripe. It cost me £88.

You sure it doesn't add tax? Says 500 dollars but I don't see any info at all

Its the same as Woocommerce. It will just convert your currency into dollars without the added tax from Xsolla. I'm in Britain though..

Edit: I can't check though, there is an error loading the shop for me.

Yeah, my purchase was just an upgrade from Wayfarer's to Adventurer. I'm not sure how long A1 sales will be open but you should get May Package, June Package and July Package at the very least. Not at the same time like.
