(Some) Mounts Can Die, So.... Just Maybe.... Glue Factory?

This is from the AoC Wiki, about the temporary mounts:

"Temporary mounts that drop from bosses will age and eventually die."

https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Mounts#Mount_drops

Now, I'm sure that yours truly will come to love his mounts just as much as the next person.... But should we maybe be able to *get* something from our mounts, once they break a leg? ("Grab the shot-bow, Billy!") Resources is one way to go with it, but I was kind of thinking something more along the lines of taxidermy; Maybe we could stuff our most-beloved mounts, and keep them forever, next to our favorite rocking chair?

People have done creepier things with their deceased pets, IRL....

I mean...i guess? Getting a dragon skull decoration after your dragon dies might be cool....but idk man, still weird...

I mean imagine getting your 4th dragon pup and you take it inside your house...

"Here is your great-grandpa, next your grandpa, next is your dad and over here i already made space for your head"

I hate/love this so much i don't even know anymore

This is a cool idea. Conan Exiles had mounts that could die and you could mount heads and let the carcass decay for certain materials. This would be really cool if they only allowed you to make a statue of a legendary mount that was found on a boss. That way it would be RARE to have them and they could remind you of that one time you had a flying mount. Imagine the status your Tavern would have with a large stuffed dragon in the corner.

I like the idea. Getting a flying mount is difficult, so being able to get a trophy when the mount die sounds good to me.

Also, the ability to make a trophy from your dead mount could be limited to a specific profesion instead of just get the item when the mount die.

this reminds me of those weird ass people that like to taxidermy their dogs and cats when they die.

    That would freak me out.
Come around the corner and see them sitting there all the sudden after a couple weeks of them being gone.(shudder)
Most people never listen. They are just waiting on you to quit making noise so they can.

Perhaps the decomposing body can be used as compost to fertilize fields etc

Less than 150 years ago, people in the US were still doing that with deceased family.

Y'all stay the hell away from my snail boy. That thing looks like he is made of glue and I won't have any harm done to him. <3

Heheh - a part of this sounds neat, and a part of this sounds morbid. Either way, it hits home, though; Some use or trophy, for once having had something like a Legendary mount!

More morbid than I was looking for, but then I *did* suggest a 'glue factory', in this thread's title!

Along these lines, maybe if you buried a Legendary mount's grave in one of your Stronghold's fields, something like special flowers could sprout up, or the field gets a temporary production bonus?

SO here's the thing, Temp mounts are very much like the Dragon Egg Mounts. They have a timer, eventually they stop existing. Don't get attached to a temp mount.

I'd be ok with players getting a stuffed head or skull from their legendary mount when it dies. Nice memento, if a bit morbid, and I see no downside. Just make it account-bound.

So if I delete an alt of sufficient level, can I put their heads on my wall, too?

I see no reason to even make it account bound. Sometimes you come on hard times and need the money.

I'm still trying to figure out why the Lannisters did not sell the dragon bones in kings landing when they took power. They did not seem to like them, and they would likely have sold for a lot in Essos. It would have been just a conversation to broker a deal with a merchant to take those bones over sea to sell for a commission...

Yeah I guess it wouldn't be the end of the world to be able to sell the trophy. And good point about the Lannisters

Thats because they like to keep the bones within the family.

    Sorry I had to.

Carpenters could make little wooden statues of the mount or pet, just collectibles to have and to remember old mounts, you can put them in your house etc. This absolutely adds even more interaction with artisans and another layer of collectibles.

    Good stuff.

These are facts, but there's no reason to not enjoy them to the level that you might want something to remember them by/to show off that you - at one point - had something like a Castle Dragon.

It might be nice to have a schematic or something trade-able to others, worth a few Gold.

Weren't dragon bones components for very potent magic, in GoT? I could be thinking of another genre, but it would seem to me that it might be best to either horde them, or to at least keep them from circulating into the wrong hands. King's Landing was a big target.

I particularly like the notion of getting something like a small statue schematic that a crafter could make up, for you. Yours truly is iffy on the trade-ability of such mementos, but it would definitely be a high-demand/valuable decoration!

With a game that has necromancers nothing truly dies

The dead do not squabble as this land’s rulers do. The dead have no desires, petty jealousies or ambitions. A world of the dead is a world at peace

Yours truly seems to recall having seen an un-dead type of mount, in the last monthly update video. Might have been the one before that.

You *raise* a good point; Un-dead mounts have to come from somewhere!

    Yep. Bone Strider.

All mounts should die, if they don't, husbandry will be useless. I've never been a fan of magical ass-pulled mounts that have no weight to them and if mounts were more of a 'pet' rather than a tool, it'd be better.

There are three mounts as of now that are undead

No, *you* get something out of it. Gamers like me smoke too much green stuff to get to keep a lot of those memories. It's an even trade, since it's hard to get hair as long as mine without having the minerals and vitamins you can only get from smoking enough weed.... :s

A nice wooden statuette on my in-game hooka lounge would serve as a nice reminder of 'that time I rode a Dragon for a month'.
