Hello everyone I hope this kind of thread hasn't been created yet ("raid boss" search is 1k pages long). So just like the title suggests lets just brainstorm the ideas of raid encounters. Lets come up with the wildest and most twisted mechanics and who knows maybe at some point some of them will be adapted to the game? One can never know but hey it's all about fun right? So I shall start with my wall of raid text, here goes! (All of the names and locations are obviously made up)

#1
Raid Boss: Temeran, Disciple of Corrosion
Location: Ancient Chapel

Ancient chapel is located deep underground in one of the rocky biomes of Vera. The inspiration comes for the location is taken from a real life location Wieliczka Salt mine:

Story:
During the fall Temeran was one of the few that survived. In order to avoid further conflict with the ancients he hid down underground in one of the ancient mines where he would study essence's entropic side. His idea was never to achieve immortality in its natural understanding but rather infinite transference of his own consciousness into other animated objects of excessive longevity. As he began to understand the powers behind decay his future simulacrums became more and more resistant to decay. Attaining mastery in entropy he was finally able to bend it to his own will. Locked away from the eyes of the old gods he did not realise how much time has passed, he didn't have to, since time had meaning to him no more. His chapel just like him, untouched by time, pure with dosens of painfully white sculptures watching over its master rested for millennia untainted by any foreign presence until now when the gates have opened for the first time. And Temeran has always disliked banquets.

Appearence:
Temeran is a humanoid with disfigured body covered in ivory-white salt crystals that serve as his armour. He uses two handed axe as a weapon. It's blade is semi-transparent while the handle together with the grip are have crystal ornaments. Few curved spikes protrude from his back making his appearance even more grotesque.

The fight:
As the players enter the chapel they spot a grotesque silhouette standing behind the altar in the far end of the room. The encounter starts when one of the players makes it to the half of the chamber. The moment the encounter is initiated the doors behind the players will slowly start to crystallize and after 60 seconds will become locked making it unable for anyone to cross the threshold locking the party inside. The actual fight starts after a brief boss monologue.

Boss skills:

Breath Taker's Aura - An aura that slows casting speed by 200% to everyone within 10m radius of the boss and reduces spell damage by 30%.

Corrosion Unbound - Temeran targets 4 players to cast undispellable corrosion debuff on them that lasts 15 seconds. It prioritise targets unaffected by bosses aura. Corrosion Unbound is fixed on players and will travel with them. Its area starts at 3m radius but increases every second by 0.5m. It does not deal damage directly to the player it's been cast on but harms all others dealing damage over time that scales every second the effect was active. Players cursed with Corrosion Unbound take double damage from other player's debuff. This ability is cast every 12 seconds.

Snuff Out - Temeran snuffs out all the candles for 5 seconds reducing player vision to 6 meters and becomes untargetable for the duration. This ability has 30 second cooldown and suspends effects of Corrosion Unbound for the duration.

The Last Dark - Temeran assassinates a random player that was left outside of other player's vision during Snuff Out for more than 4 seconds and instantly resets his cooldown on Corrosion Unbound. If The Last Dark is unsuccessful Temeran is stunned for 3 seconds taking double damage. The Last Dark can be used only once every Snuff Out.

Timeless Statues - Temeran revives one statue at random to aid him in the fight everytime he loses 15% of health. There are 9 statues total. 3 warriors, 3 archers and 3 healers. Every active warrior statue increases Temeran's melee damage damage by 10%. Every active archer statue increases Temeran's chance to dodge attacks by 3%. Every active healer statue increases Temeran's Corrosion Unbound target count by 1 and will heal the boss for 0.5% of health with every cast.

Saltify - Every 40 seconds one player will be turned into a salt statue making them unable to move and take 200% damage from all sources. This effect lasts until dispelled or the player is broken free. Saltify prioritises players unaffected by Corrosion Unbound primary debuff.

Possible Achievements:

Why So Salty? - Kill Temeran when at least 4 raid members are saltified.
One Last Look at Gomorrah - Kill Temeran with with at least 3 salt statues active

Boss: Fhaget, the Coin Collector
Location: Vault of the False promises.

The vault is located in desert biome underground. Stylised for ancient Egyptian or Incas tomb. A labyrinth like network of stone passages filled with traps finally leads into the chamber of the Coin Collector.

Story: Fhaget was the royal treasurer before the fall. Shortly before the apocalypse struck he mettled into several frauds and schemes which made several townships fall into ruin. As the comets flung across the sky Fhaget would seek refuge in one of his vaults. Amid the chaos he managed to smuggle his beloved book of debts and locked himself out in the Vault in hopes it all will soon end and no debtor goes unchecked while the place is back to normal. In his gold vault he would spend days on counting his riches, estimating post apocalyptic value of all the jewels and keeping track of the interest in his book of debts. Corruption's reach however was limitless and his sick soul and foul character made it easy for the twisted forces to make him their agent. Closed for thousands of years in a place with the only thing he ever loved yet cut from the possibility to multiply it his doors are finally open once again. As the sounds of caravans from the outside awakened his desires once more he is ready to strike yet another deal.

Raid leader has to deposit certain amount of gold to start the encounter, the maximum deposit sum can be 3x the required amount. Once the deposit is paid the fight begins. The minimum threshold is reset after 2 hours. Successive failures stack the effect and refresh the counter up to a 250% minimum threshold value. Once the fee is paid preparation phase starts. Fhaget will spawn golden doubloons on the ground with varying quantities of 10,20,50 and 100.
