Paying $500 to test a game

FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. I hope this shit becomes pay to win.

It won't become pay to win and the cost to test AoC was well worth it so far. I have my complaints but for the most part the development team and creative direction listens to our feedback and actually makes changes that matter. I get that you dislike the idea of paying to test a game for a development company but those of us who bought it see it differently. We paid into the idea of helping so we could be a part of what we think will be one of the best mmos to have ever been made. This, to me, makes $500 too little.
No.
Time will tell, but you just sound mad. "I hope this shit becomes p2w", followed by "I'll pay the sub anyway". Which is it, should the game turn out to be shit, or something worth playing?
$500 to get access to limited content so I can grow a YouTube and Twitch channel. Plenty of people spend way more and get less growth from it.
of course im going to play it, im sick in the head. but paying 500 dollars to test it, im not thaaat sick. 500 dollars in brazil is 3 minimum wages guys, you are thinking with the mind of rich ppl, the world is not that rich you know. And there should be a barrier for testers, but they should handpick them, not sell the key to the highest bidder. i love the concept of this game and i trully hope it exceeds my expectations, but dude 500 is too much. im poor god dammit. i am mad.
now this, this explains a lot. thank you dude
Now, how to ping Margaret K. and Toast on that idea ...
Yeah that's what I thought. Again, you genuinely have my sympathy, for whatever good it does.

No sarcasm when I say that you should have said that first.
"Guys I wanna help playtest but it's too expensive what can I do?" would have got at least somewhat better response.
For example, I'd tell you that right now, we're just hunting bugs, and repeatedly replaying the same starter quests over and over every few days. This current test might let us play for a whole straight 96 hours maybe! Or not. Might be wiped to level 1 again somewhere in the middle if necessary.
If you want to feel what the game is like, don't even worry about it, wait until Beta. Or, as the Creative Director says, just do what you're already planning to do. Wait until release.
But don't come in implying other people are stupid when what you mean is 'I'm upset that you guys with more money get to do something I don't'.
cool, my bad, at first i was mad that ppl dont think the fee is absurd and trying to explain why it is. 500 dollars here is almost 3000 reais, which is a fucking good pay rate for ppl under 30. thats why its so outrageous to me, and i didnt understand why it wasnt for u guys. the world is just very different. sorry for dropping all the hate.
(it was in fact 'not ok')
Just don´t type when you are upset.
Also, this is an alpha, created for gathering data on server stability etc. If you were to test it for free, there would be very little testing done, but with these tiers of testing behind a paywall, you actually get some data collected in the process, and players get some cosmetics back.
So... things you don´t like...just take a few breath´s and say something constructive instead about it.
Everyone can make a post mistake etc, but just remember it from this point, and you should be fine.
Otherwise, we're likely to be stuck with WoW clones for another couple of decades.
2) Don't join a game before it actually releases in a non Alpha/Beta state.
3) Don't complain about a game not being finished, when it's in early access, just because you don't understand what that actually means.
u jelly bro?
And apple should give me an iPhone that costs $1400 for free too. Just because.
But in all seriousness, you don't pay anything to test the game. You SUPPORT the growth of the game and gain an opportunity to contribute towards its development.
The world is indeed very rich. It is the people that are poor unfortunately.
