This would be amazing! Not much worse than starting to run somewhere using W then realize you have a long way to go and having to stop to turn on auto run. Would be very nice to be running along with W held then just slap the Auto run button and keep on my merry way hands free!
PS. Why do so many games use NumLock as Autorun?!?! I of course changed mine to R as soon as keybind changing became a thing! Just always seemed so weird that games use NumLock lol

Agreed! I sent in a similar report about this as I consider a bug. You should definitely be able to be running by pressing W or by holding both mouse buttons down and then tap the autorun button and let go to continue running. Having to stop and then engage autorun is annoying.
Indeed! I use an MMO mouse and the side buttons are mapped to keypad numbers. I remapped this ASAP since numlock causes a) a light to turn on on my keyboard whenever it's enabled and b) when it's disabled it breaks all my MMO mouse keybinds. Using another key as the default for this would be great IMO.
Personally not a fan of it.
If you release "W" or the move forward key then immediately click "Num Lock" you can for the most part seamlessly transition into autorun without stopping your character's forward progress.
