Defense mitigation needs a name change

When I first started looking at the stats on gear, physical and magical defense mitigation really confused me and a few other people I talked to. Defense is protection against attacks and mitigation means to lessen the effect of. So when I read defense mitigation, I thought it was an armor penetration stat. It seems that the actual stat reduces the damage you take from that damage type though. I think it should be just magical/physical defense or magical/physical mitigation.
