Glorious Alpha Two Testers!

Alpha Two Realms are now unlocked for Phase II testing!

For our initial launch, testing will begin on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 10 AM Pacific and continue uninterrupted until Monday, January 6, 2025, at 10 AM Pacific. After January 6th, we’ll transition to a schedule of five-day-per-week access for the remainder of Phase II.

New fan of the game here and I'm curious as to how AOC will balance the classes around the combat triangle of tanks, healers and dps? I'm huge into pvp and would love to finally see a game with all of its classes having viability. I never was a fan of winning just because the class I picked in general had better tools to pvp with.

    Pvp will be balanced groups 8v8 vs 1v1.

    Too early to tell. The philosophy is that there are many systems, pve and pvp and that all classes will have a reason to take place in the 8man party.

    One class combo might be better for 1v1, another for small scale, another might be better for solo xp lv up, another better for dungeons, another better for siege etc etc.

    They want to achieve balance for group v group, as well as viability for the total game.

    Hard task. I hope they pull it off but I doubt it.
    It's all up to the people to give REAL feedback when the time to test classes comes.

    Balancing in Ashes of Creation is group focused not based on 1v1 combat.[1][3]

    1v1 matchups will have a rock-paper-scissors dynamic, where one class will be superior to another.[3]

    There will be match ups in 1v1s where one class will be superior to another; and that application should be a rock-paper-scissors dynamic. We want there to be counter-play between the different classes... Instead it's going to be a group focused balance, where as long as you have the diversity of classes present, that's going to be an equal level playing field.
