The sounds and presence of mythical beasts.

Disclaimer: Yes im aware its alpha and all these things are already subject to change, nonetheless i still want to give my feedback to potentially give them ideas. c:

Heya! Just want to touch on a topic that is probably low priority but something i would personally love to see in the game, however it isn't a deal breaker at all, just something to add extra immersion to the world of Verra.

I was watching Bustin on twitch (twitch.tv/bustin) and he received a flying mount in the Alpha, the mount looked so mystical as it was flying over mountaintops and through valleys making the noises it makes, it was very immersive. Later, i looked back at a fight with the poison/terra dragon, and the sounds it makes aren't bad but to me it feels like it was a bit underwhelming and it was lacking something. The flying mount sounded more mystical and badass than the dragons did.

A big badass mythical dragon needs to have 'PRESENCE' in my opinion, it needs to be scary, heavy, and strong looking and sounding.

So here are some suggestions i thought of:
1. Add an echo effect to the roar/screeches/calls of big mythical beasts and allow people to hear these sounds from far away! To put this into perspective, imagine you're walking between the mountains and you hear this 'ROAR' echo between the mountains, that'd be so badass. (If the distance couldn't be so large due to gameplay or technical reasons, i'd still add the echo effect to give the illusion that it was an extremely powerful roar). Right now the roar is deep and aggressive but i feel like its a bit. quiet(?)

2. Add screen-shake and ground-shatter effects when the dragon/beast lands on the ground after leaping/flying or when it stomps. It makes you feel that you do NOT want to get hit by that stomp and makes the mob feel more powerful.

3. When a roar is released, i'd like to see a shockwave/soundwave effect in the air.

That's all, thanks for reading c: Feel free to discuss, its just a humble opinion of mine and i would love to read what you think about it.

P.S. Just watched some asmongold and he was fighting a 15+ elder tundra dragon, and the wand's normal attacks are louder than the dragon sounds.. pls D:

In this whole video, there were barely any times where the dragon felt strong and had a big presence in my opinion.

Good ideas! You may want to bring this up again later in development 👍

Monster hunter world does a fantastic job of giving you that "oh shit" feeling when you meet every new monster to kill. They use sound, camera shake/angles, smaller animals running in fear, and slowing/stopping you character. I don't expect this in an mmo but you are right, there could be more added to sweeten this element of the world.

What you are missing from this fight is the travel leading to the area and the perspective from different classes. I almost solo'd this fight as a tank earlier in the alpha when I was able to demolish other players in one hit haha. As a melee character, the fight feels better. You're forced to avoid the anti melee abilities it has and there is a lot more movement involved. This is why I firmly believe they need to completely rehaul melee combat since it locks us in place with every attack and we can move and attack at the same time (this really takes about from any combat enjoyment).
  • Yup world bosses seems really poor right now, visually and the mechanics

Thank you! And yes i agree on the melee thing, definitely needed.

Visually i believe they look cool, but i believe they should have their own 'habitat' + added effects that make sense.

I agree! Such creatures should be given extra attention too in forms of life & precense in the world. They are supposed to be a frightening, heartracing yet intruiging & exciting sight.

I'd like for in this case a big FAT dragon that if it were to land very close to you the shockwave would damage everyone in a radius from the landing spot & players who were unluckily to close would die. Perhaps it would knock you off your mount, you get the idea.
