Overall I'm very impressed with the game even in this early Alpha 1 phase. I've played a lot of MMORPGs and I really like where AoC is and the potential it has.

Movement/Combat: I've seen some people say they think the overall movement and combat is sluggish. I actually disagree it feels pretty smooth to me and movement is fine/feels good in the environment. I'm still very low level so my opinion may change later on but for now it feels good as a new player in a vast world.

Top Suggestions:
1) Indicator on the Map for the player so you can reference where you really are in relation to the world. Or, put a compass/header or North Seeking arrow on the map to more clearly define character position for terrain association. I found myself having to REALLY focus on where my character actually was on the map and where I actually need to go. In similar games I haven't struggled this much to figure out where I am and where my objective is as I have in Alpha 1.
1A) On the minimap, please put a slight background to it. In current state it is very hard to see icons/items on the right hand corner minimap. A small backdrop will help it be more easily seen. An option too is a slider for players to choose the opacity they desire for the backdrop of the minimap as well as sizes for the minimap.

2) More clearly define quest givers/or NPCs that have pertinent messages/quests for the player. Exclamations over the head or something like this or highlight the NPC further to show they have something for me.

3) I think I remember reading how more of the world will be interactive for harvesting/mining/etc. so I'm not sure this is really a suggestion. Just wanted to affirm that the more of the world players can interact with in a meaningful way the better. For example, in the current state it feels really odd walking by a small forest and only 1 tree is eligible to be cut down for lumber. Also I'm unsure if the plan is for my action to impact other players (example, I cut down a tree and it falls for them too). I think that has the potential for much more immersive gameplay as opposed to a node spawn system.

4) Looting slain mobs. It seems really sluggish/clunky looting drops from the mobs I've slain. The challenge should be in defeating my enemies not grabbing their loot ;) Loot either needs to spawn faster or make some type of snap-to function that my character can more easily interact with the loot dropped.

That's all I have for now. I'm probably not the first to mention these so I apologize if this was redundant. Again I'm really impressed with the game and plan on playing a TON through all of the development. Great work so far to the Dev Team!

    far to the Dev Team!

Turns out my game was just bugged out. Logged in again and now I have a marker showing my character so I'll go quietly hide in a corner now to hide from the embarrassment.
