As many as you can think of, probably. But then again, I also like the idea of spells affecting terrain. A mudwall brought forth by Geomancy for example.

Combining spells is also something I would love to see. The standard one being a wet surface/spell with electricity. But water and fire to create a wall of fog and stuff too.

It would be really cool if spells like Blizzard made enemies get an extra slow and visual effect (''sinking in mud'') if the aoe spell Blizzard was used on a certain type of ground for example, or cause a chance of knockdown (stun) and a visual effect if it is cast on stone.

Would be cool if you could use this ability to freeze water/marsh so allies could walk over it (so it would be a dual use spell, both offensive and utility).

Creative use of spells, have them not only have a combat function.

Slippery slopes, falling rocks, flash floods, and being able to freeze to death or die of heat exhaustion based off your race or clothing being worn.... last point would add a whole new reason to pick a race or Armour type. I would love to be a dwarf in furs while fighting in a snowy mountain terrain watching a person from a dessert terrain having their health slowly tick down as we fight because they are not prepared for that environment, or that my boots give me better traction in the snow while they slip around falling in their sandals. That would also make sieges even more interesting as well.

The disease idea is interesting, I think. I don't think it would be too difficult to pull off correctly, of implemented.

To use the previous example having to run to get healed, travel back, so on and so on. They could make the debuff progress in a way that it gets stronger over time, like say... every hour or 2 it gets stronger. Eventually it could kill you, but we'd be talking a week or 2 in real time. That way you have a chance to be cleansed.. but I also see how thisnwould be difficult to implement, and potentially "too realistic".

On a similar note what about poisons that rogue might have functioning in this manner?
