Please don't allow boosting (higher level players boosting lower levels through the content).

It just ruins an mmo.

Look what happened in Classic WoW.

People will optimise the fun out of any game if given the chance and as absurd as it may sound at first they need to be forced to have fun.

No boosting means people out there playing the game, making the world more alive, cooperating with other players and making their experience more fun, and actually having fun themselves regardless if originally they would have chosen a more ''optimal path'', the more ''convenient'' path.

Boosting means a less alive world, a world with fewer people to team up with and socialize and have fun with, lots of fresh max levels with bad gear and no clue when it comes to their character making pugging a very frustrating experience for all sides especially for the boosted fresh max-level and it means a huge boost to the illcit gold sellers and the game feeling like a p2w even if its not really.

So please make it so that parties made of higher levels + lower levels have a huge xp and item drop chance debuff.

Also, make it so that quests aren't considered done if the objective was achieved with together with a higher level (10 levels higher for example).

    Bad idea.
They should reconsider for the previously mentioned reasons.

Maybe a mentorship program for fresh max-levels, where ''consolidated'' max levels help them get their starter pvp/pve gear and stuff like that, otherwise, bad idea.

So how long have you been following the development of AoC? I notice you're relatively new here (forums). How many Dev streams have you watched?
You make a lot of comparisons to WoW in your other posts. Is that the only MMO you've ever played?
It would seem, based on your other posts, that you have a good deal of doubt in the Devs, amd their abilities. They have stated that this game wouldn't be for everyone.

  • It's generally stops being fun with your 3rd alt.
Lengthy vertical progression does not lend itself to longevity of the game.

You think everything is a bad idea.

Most people never listen. They are just waiting on you to quit making noise so they can.

I'd like to see a 4lv room space to work with.
If the highest member of the group is 4 lvs higher than the lowest, the lowest shouldnt receive xp.

With such a short period of play to get to max level, I am not sure just how much of an issue this may be.

This doesn't even sound too bad. Ironhope, this does not look like the WoW boosting problem, where a low level that sits at the beginning of a dungeon while a high level one shots stuff. This looks to be content where both parties have to interact to be rewarded. Ofcourse it is very vague at this point, but Steven's description of custom quests, seems to indicate they don't want one party to afk.

    Yes.

Because games with vertical progression like EQ (22 years), EQ2 and WoW (17 years) prove this point.

While there are some examples of more horizontal progression that are still running fairly ok, the fact that both solid vertical and horizontal progression games are long lived simply means that this has no bearing at all on the longevity of the game as a whole.

Honestly, I've read about NKVD interogators that were more chill and gentle than you Kovrm.

I expect some actual problem you would maybe highlight regarding my arguments or something like that. Why you disagree with what I said and why boosting is a great idea.

Instead of you make random negative assumptions regarding me and attack me with them.

I'm not going to bite mate, make an argument-based point or don't expect answers from me.

I have never said anything of the sorts.

Whenever I said I fear a development scenario I explained in detail what that scenario would be and why it would be bad.

Could be bad, could be less bad, I'd still take people leveling by being out there in the world any day of the week over it.

Boosting is the absolute bane of any games existence. Earn it or just stick with your main honestly. There should be effort required to max a character, whether its considered fun or not denotes whether you should be playing the game to begin with ? Giving in to the whole boosting power-levelling scheme is a path to destruction no matter the form it takes. High level toons shouldn't be permitted to sit in a group and level new characters over night. Trickling down XP from high level characters to lower levels should be totally obliterated to discourage the practice and keep the insta gratification crowd OUT. Once you lose control of a game to boosters it's game over.

    I agree.

When getting max lvl means nothing, the emotional reward for everyone out there is greatly diminuished.

Make lvling fun and classes different enough so its a different ''ride'' every time and there is no reason for complaint.
