So what about "sneaking"?

Hey folks, I just had an idea and I'm looking forward to see what is your opinion about it.
So, lets say you have some kind of "skill" (eiter every class could have it, or just some of them). When you activate it, your character slows down (either croutching or even laying down) and the effect for the other players is, that your nameplate beeing hidden from them.
This way, the game can mimic that they don't see you coming, or don't see you waiting them. This can generate good ambushing gameplay, which can be so much fun in my opinion.
Also if you spot the sneaking person, you can hoover your cursor over the player and reveal the nameplate.
What do you think?

Unsure about your idea. I like the idea of more than just stealth classes having the ability to ambush. That is how it is IRL. A fat man with a cowbell around his neck can still get the drop on you with prior planning.
If I had more time, I would write a shorter post.
Exactly what I was going to say.
I agree with bushes from league.
Invisibility in mmos is op otherwise. Unless it's a skill with high cd and short effect duration. Oppertunistic and a class defining feature, instead of constant and op.
I do like the idea of every class having the option to ambush by using a skill that puts you into "X" mode and hides your nameplate. This would make for some very engaging cat and mouse gameplay depending on location. This would also give players the opportunity to hide and log out (it certainly helps me with my issue of not having a hearthstone...a little bit).
If we are going to have beneficial dodges, right clicked blocks (I think I heard/read this somewhere), and a sprint....why not have a hide option? Think of the possibilities and pure enjoyment of having a raid hide in the bushes and waiting for a caravan to come by. Pure enjoyment for the ones hiding anyway haha.
It's generally a bad idea to face-check (walk right into) a bush if you don't know where your enemy is. The nuance is that this is safer for a tank to do because even if an ambush is waiting in the bush, the tank can soak all the damage and the rest of the team can clean up the fight.
If you're a squishy class, face checking bushes is a no-no, so in LoL you throw one of your abilities into a bush just to check if anyone's there before you continue on your way. The nuance here is, if you do this right before a team fight happens, then that skill you threw into the bush is on cooldown and won't be available for the teamfight.
(probably irrelevant to Ashes: LoL went on to add a set of items called "wards" which you purchase and put in a bush to grant vision within that bush. In LoL, vision tends to be the responsibility of the support classes)
Yeah, they need to do something, cos if you're trying to set an ambush for a caravan, for example, and you've got a massive series of nameplates above your party's heads, it's going to be a bit of a giveaway. I don't like nameplates at the best of times. Should only be an "if you hover over them" kind of thing, not a permanent display. Just makes the beautiful game look ugly when you've all that text bobbing around in front of you.
What if they make nameplates appear based on how close/far away the other person is?
Still makes cities and towns ugly, cos it's just a sea of names that's blocking me from seeing where the damn merchant is...! But, that's off-topic for this Sneaking thread.
Hiding or waiting to ambush makes for a thrilling experience.
