Choosing the best class for you

As we all know, ashes of creation will bring new system of choosing secondary class that will tweak primary abilities. We all are not sure what to expect after some classes, that why im creating this thread. Do u guys prefer to keep is a secret in character creation state or should u be able to check out what options will give u secondary class, before u create a character. In that scenario we will avoid situations when someone have to grind 25 levels to get secondary only to find out that he dont like secondaries of this class. And dont get me wrong.. u still have to grind to lv 25 to get this secondary, but u will know earlier what to expect

I believe that when we get to see the secondary archetypes we will see their skills/abilities etc. like they did with the 3 classes they introduced in alpha 1, so you can decide based on that, if you don't like it then we already know you can change your secondary archetype. When u choose your primary archetype you pretty much know what direction you're heading anyway so you're most likely going to like few of the second archetypes as well.

By release, it's going to be pretty common knowledge what to expect from all the classes. So people will know in advance.

Funny story, when I was a teen playing L2 I wanted to be a bladedancer. I was playing a human and little did I know that bladedancers were only dark elves with dual wield.

So after a couple of months and after a challenging series of quests I became by accident a Gladiator (human dual wield).
I was angry, I though I did the wrong quests. So I put up with it.

However, to this day my gladiator was my favourite class/playstyle in ANY video game that I have play.

Back to topic... with so many streamers ruining the joys of discovery and mastery, people would have to be very **** to end up playing a class they dont like.

As for us testers, there should be no excuse. None.

When we get to beta 1 I will spend all my time trying the different combos of fight or rogue for the best and most fun dual wield warrior class and I will take it to live.

Major excuse is lack of time, but sure

I think, when the time comes, testers should first turn off netflix and the like, as well as pause playing other games, before they start worrying about not finding time to test and find their fav class.

As for the rest, like I said above, there are streamers.

Keeping it secret would be idiotic. While your secondary class isn't permanent, it won't be trivial to change it. If you had to make that choice blindly it would be crappy game design, like pranking your customers. They're not going to do that.

This here will be the difference. Anyone putting in the effort to discover this much info will give themselves that bit of an advantage. That's the benefit of paying to test the game, rather than just watching other people. I fully intend to do the same!

  • The class system reminded me of Arpg "Grim Dawn". This is a cool game of course.
