What would be your thoughts if all the skins(armors, mounts, etc) from the shop and in game, only you were able to see it so it doesn't affect the armor visual progression?

Not going to happen. Developers make money from ppl who seek attention.
The option you propose would hurt that product (cosmetics).
It's 2021. It has become the norm to detatch character visuals from gameplay.
I dont like it either but it will never change.

Would you buy a Rolex if everyone else sees it as a 5$ watch? Maybe.

    Would most people? No.

Armor visual progression works in games where at max level you can learn all the visual sets for what they are (stats, attributes, etc).

In Ashes, visual progression doesn't correlate 1:1 with what stats you have, as there are many ways to customize the gear to be exactly what you want.

I would also like to add that "Visual Progression" goes out the window in nearly every MMORPG after the first expansion pack. You spend the base game leveling and gearing at cap to look badass. When the next expansion comes around, you already look badass. You can't just keep endlessly looking more badass every expansion. So, you just look badass in a different way every expansion.

Ashes just starts that trend a little earlier.

Cosmetic skins are here to stay. Why not pick one you like? Come in, and have a drink. Just a sip. You know you want to......
