Visual Damage Effects on Creatures

I think it would be really cool if they could overlay visual meshes over creatures we are fighting. For example if we were fighting a creature with a sword after it took so much damage a mesh would appear on the creature so it has cuts and dinted armor.
If you used fire or ice it would display accordingly as well as become more severe when health is even lower.
A visual aid to see his health as opposed to the traditional health bar. Not saying to get rid of the bar, just maybe see if this extra extra is possible.
