Nikua and ideas how to make them more unique.

Since the races were first described by Steven we have been told that each race will have a unique silhouette or features that set it apart from all the rest.

The Py'rai have their horns and Bark skin.

The Vek have their big ears, skinny features, hunched back, and even big eyes.

And as you go into each race they have something that sets them apart that is unique. All of the races so far have something unique that pulls people to them and I think it could only benefit the race of Nikua to give them different options to add to their character creator

So to give some food for thought and discussion I wanted to push forward the idea that the Nikua live by and on the water. Why not give them some small fins on they arms or legs, perhaps large feet that could operate like flippers in the water. Gills could be a good addition.

This might seem super odd but when you put it into the world of Ashes where the Py'rai literally adapted to their environment by becoming more wild like why can't the Nikua have something fantastical to make them unique.

Being that they are a water focused race it would only make sense for them to have features that would make them excel in water.

On top of the fins and gills you could give them racial buffs like the ability to swim faster, hold their breath longer, and maybe fight better while in and under the water. Just a few ideas, open to feedback and hope people at least enjoy the idea of Nikua that are like Kevin Costner in Waterworld.

The funnier thing is the fact that people don't care about the Nikua enough to even say this is outstanding or outlandish lol.

Good luck getting an accurate silhouette of big ears and big eyes from a distance - what a load of shit.

Furthermore, I imagine tulnar will also have skinny options and hunched backs most likely.

I think unique silhouettes are a big joke.

I mean. It's more so that the presumption is wrong (their silhouette is already very different) but the proposal is so relatively superfishal that it's not offensive in the slightest. It'd just be 'okay.' Now if you start arguing for fish eyes we might need to talk abbot this bait and switch proposal. But big feet and gills? Yeah sure why not other than 'the lore'.

The Niküa are basically halflings from what we've seen. Them being called "beach Dwarves" instead of halflings has mostly lowered the potential interest in them right now.

But mark my words, since Niküa are theshortest they will get more interest as they are fleshed out / lore revealed on the road towards release.

I'd actually like for Intrepid to lean further into their Halfling-like design, semi-pointed ears and all, The idea of seafaring "Halflings" is rather interesting.

I too was upset with the design of the nikua. They look like black dwarves, but they could be so much more. My intial interpretation of them was that they would be much skinnier and a bit taller, kinda like a hobbit look.

In this same realm of thought what really differs the Vaelune?

I went back to check in the character creator video and you can see darker skin tones selectable for the Kaelar they were editing so skin tones can’t really be considered the different factor for the Nikua or Vaelune.

Obviously there is different architecture, culture and presumably racials which I probably would have considered reasonably enough of a difference, but then they went and make the Py’rai and Vek so distinct, and I can’t help but wish the same for Vaelune/Nikua. (Seriously love the Py’rai/Vek models IS. They are my favorite elf/orc variants I’ve ever seen, and I can’t believe I’m gonna say this, but I can’t wait to play as an elf and/or orc for the first time ever).

idk - I kind of like where they are now. Reminds me of the difference between Neidar and Hylar. I'm sure there will be ways with sliders to make YOUR Nikua more hobbit-like, but not everyone wants a hobbit.

Their height and slight frames are their adjustments to their environment.
