Hi guys! I'm new here and just have one question currently...

...What am I doing wrong? I'm trying to put these "Ashes of Creation" on my weapon in Elden Ring and it turns my weapon into an MMO D:

But in seriousness, it's nice to meet everyone. I had heard about this game a while ago but didn't follow up until now due to lack of real life time. This seems really intriguing because I never had a chance to get into MMOs during the "classic" phase where things weren't overly streamlined, so I'm definitely curious what's going to happen here :).

I AM serious about having a question though: Does AoC plan to focus more on PvP elements, PvE, or a balance? I ask because I'm a PvE type of guy. I'm not putting PvP down, just clarifying what sort of player I am so I don't waste anyone's time with questions that might be irrelevant to the game.

Welcome. Ashes is going for a blended PvX approach where players can work together to achieve goals within the environment (e.g. developing a node, exploration, dungeons and raids), or - work against each other (open world conflict governed by corruption).

    Hope this helps: https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Pvx

My understanding is that PvP and PvE in ashes are inseparable. A PvP focused player will want to complete PvE content to get the best gear. A PvE focused player will want to defend their node from other players when it comes under siege. Because Intrepid is trying to stay away from instanced content (they aim for 80% open-world 20% instanced, BiS gear comes from open world), A PvE player may get attacked inside a dungeon, and a PvP player might have their duels interrupted by others. PvP changes the nodes and the world itself, PvE is the reason for that change.

In WoW, you can be a PvP player or a PvE player, and never touch the opposite content. You can't do that in Ashes.

Large scale PvP siege action can be one of the best forms of mmo play and provide momentous battles where you will actually be exhausted by the time its over. That is one of the big draws of this game and is being designed into the software from the ground up to deliver performance (as much as possible given peoples differing hardware). Battles are planned for 500 or so participants and could be higher as everything matures.
