Even the simple fact that some people enjoy shopping and some people prefer earning in game makes the two types a form of equitable.
Equity means being fair (or, more specifically, an attempt at fair distribution). Sure, there may be one of these two that has an objective advantage, but the other (piecemeal) absolutely has a subjective advantage.
That is equitable.
That is the definition of the difference between equitable and equal.
If Steven wanted to say that he will intend on making cosmetics earned in game and cosmetics bought via the store functionally the same, then there is no reason to use the word equitable. The very use of that word *requires* there to be differences between the two.
Since he was speaking from a high level perspective at the time, one could argue that if there is no high level difference, then Steven would be incorrect in that statement.
Tbh , i'm personally not the biggest fan of cosmetics, may it be from a cash shop or ingame acquirable, and that, is for the exact same reason stated by @Noaani
"The fact that I can't tell what you are wearing by just looking at your character."
I would gladly accept a option to toggle on/off for cosmetics.
Sadly Steven already denied the possibility of such a thing.
Aren't we all sinners?
APOC had various weapon skins that could be earned in the path and for sale in the APOC store.
The same argument could be made by boosts. I wouldn't mind people paying 50 to get to max level, so?
I would say that covering up your armor while there’s a planned indicator to tell you what you’re predominate armor type is for other players creates a pretty loose argument that the shop is p2w.
Throwing in items like that would not receive my same argument from most people. That kind of thing is very clearly , without exception in the context of this game p2w. That’s not at all a 1:1 comparison and stated multiple times would not be in the game.
If Steven were to even hint at allowing things like that after specifically speaking against those things, I would hop right over to the other side of the fence on this and protest as well, and I’m sure many others would do so as too.
My point is that you can't recreate the store sets by dyeing the individual pieces we acquire in game.
Quotes really are useful.
Indeed you can't recreate exact costumes. But that isn't really the point.
When Steven said the cash shop and in game cosmetics will be equitable, he wasn't talking about any individual look or item, he was talking about the over all notion of getting cosmetics in the cash shop versus getting them in game.
As such, I wasn't talking about individual looks or items either, just that same general notion.
Ah, I missed those, my involvement in APOC was limited because it was a chore. I did some of that testing but it was awful.
