Dungeon Leaderboards / Notifications (Timed, Solo Clears, Etc.)

Idea:
Server specific dungeon leaderboards, for fastest time completions for the party that completed it. Along with time related leaderboards, leaderboards for solos or any group under the recommended player number for that dungeons completion.

Similar to that of the leaderboard and notification system of King's Avatar.

Benefits:
- Adds competitiveness to the game
- Adds replayability to dungeons
- Breeds player interaction and rivalries
- Awards players for attempting the dungeon with a challenge
- Gives players a quasi-pinnacle objective to grind towards (something not on the level of a flying mount, but something slightly more accessible to players, recognition)
- Allows the opportunities for speed-runners/solo-ers to not only gain recognition on YouTube or speed-running forums if they were to post their run, but actually in the game.

LMK what you all think, if this is a good idea, bad idea, super complicated and unnecessary, or something that needs work. Personally, I think this would be a neat feature to add which only adds more depth to the game, but curious to hear feedback.

This is an old one so dunno if this is still the case, but there will be dungeon/raid leaderboards. Dunno how exactly they gonna have those set up cause most dungeons will be open world, so you can get fucked by pvp - but there will be leaderboards.

Can't see how they'd do dungeon speed runs in open world dungeons.

easy. the moment ur party goes through the dungeon entrance, the timer starts running and it stops the moment the final boss dies
  • I have to agree that the open world element probably will make it nigh impossible to at least have a leaderboard for speedruns without instancing. I definitely see leaderboards in the game being good for other aspects though!

I find a dungeon leaderboard to be less affected by being open world and actually harder to balance due to the difficulty scaling.
(Taken from wiki:) "Higher performance in earlier phases will increase the difficulty of subsequent phases of the encounter."

I'm worried that the leaderboard will end up with odd approaches to speedruns where a team specifically uses bad gear or approaches early in a dungeon to lower the difficulty of later content.
If the leaderboard is based off in-combat DPS it would be more balanced but may punish tanking and healing.

As the Leaderboard is already planned and already noted for Dungeons I'm very interested to see how Intrepid tackle it.

All those things are still affected by the dungeon being open world. You went through early bosses in shitty gear? Well, get fucked because another group messed up your timing on the last boss. Or at any other moment during the dungeon clearing.

Being open world could potentially mess up the entire leaderboard so I'm really interested in seeing how they're gonna get around that issue. Or if they even consider that an issue.
  • I personally dont see it as being something that leads into an e-sports competitive mind set or system. It's more of an accomplishment and encounter timed rating system because of their plan to have dungeons and raids scale to player accomplishments and bragging rights.

IIRC if your group just wrecked a boss one week, it could be much more tuned for your skill set next week as an example if that's still their design plan.

Nah we don't need open world dungeon leaderboard, why do ppl need to attach a leaderboard to anything I don't understand. I guess rather than having the entire dungeon might be only the time it takes to kill the boss of the dungeon (if it has one) to matter for the leaderboard, since it is actually impossible to time something where random people from everywhere enters with their own party and farm the monsters.
If it is like in lineage than dungeons are different than what you guys think, those were places for parties to farm monsters with increased loot chance and better loot than monsters outside the dungeon, not something that you can speedrun since there is no end to the dungeon, and there was no limit to people entering it since it was open world making it very pvp intense for the spots in the dungeon to farm, and remember the core of this game is Lineage 2 mostly. Just my 2 cents, cheers.

I'm not a huge fan of systems like that myself. Because it is immersion breaking.
As an example: I'd much rather have a Colosseum type thing, where I can, in-game, park my character on the stands (even if I have to purchase a ticket with in-game currency) That way, if it proves popular, people can build businesses around it, like gambling, or setting up fights, I could have a favourite fighter etc.

You can do the leaderboards and stuff outside of the game just fine, and I'm okay with that.

And when someone steals the kill? Or when you have 10 other parties doing it? One or several bosses haven't responded from their last kill?

It's nearly pointless to have a dungeon leader board without consistent variables for them.

I really love this idea. It reminds me of the system we had in Wildstar and similar other games, we had to complete every dungeon with a certain timer and without too many individual fails to complete it on ”Gold-Level“.

Clue: You could only start raid-attunement if you managed to complete the 3 hardest dungeons on Gold-Level.

    Love system like these!
