How will taming competition work?

So it might be a bit early for this level of speculation and will probably be more relevant when A2 drops but I was curious if it has been covered or what peoples thoughts are on competition in the Taming space.
If taming is a series or skill tests and channels will taming immediately stop an animal from being attacked? As a subset of this will Taming be limited to herds of animals and/or specific animals placed into the world as Taming only objectives to prevent them being killed?
Also how will competition be handled between Tamers for the same animal spawn? I have no doubt the game will get to a point where people will be waiting for a specific rare or herd to spawn so they can tame from it. Will everyone waiting get a unique copy of the tame with a successful sequence of minigames/abilities? Or will it be some kind of tagging system?
What would you peeps like to see? Because as a former hunter main and active mount farmer in WoW it was really irritating to sit around waiting for a rare just to get out-tamed by some botter that started channeling his tame on something before it even phases into the world.

I am not sure about the specific taming mechanic, but in Ashes you can attack the competition. So there is that.

On a tangent, I actually hope group mounts will require a group of tamers working together.

Yep I know PvP will be the solution to a lot of camping and I'm thankful for that, but this is additionally a matter of once the taming process has started.

And I would hope that as well for group mounts. It makes sense that an elephant could need 3 or 4 experiences Tamers to tame like they need that many keepers in zoos and the like.
