Can purchased cosmetic armors be dyed different colors? I feel like this will make or break a lot of purchases for people.

    Well, originally? No. Also:

    1) The specific color/texture of the cash-shop items is supposed to be unique - though we're supposed to be able to obtain in-game items that are nearly-identical in texture/color.

    2) It's been stated the cosmetics will not be separate pieces that you can mix-and-match with other pieces; you'll use the whole appearance set.

    3) It's still subject to change; Originally? There was no re-coloring planned beyond initial crafting, and then we just had a big Dev Discussion on gear-coloring.

Yours truly personally feels we'd be free of harm in allowing re-coloring of clothing and armor - cosmetic, crafted, or otherwise.

Yea I'm hoping for a solid official stance though. I think it'd be awesome to be able to recolor purchased cosmetics

    We’re still pre-Alpha 2, @Dolyem … so you’re not going to get a “solid official stance” on a lot of in-game systems.

We know there is a dye system.

As @Tyranthraxus said, it’s going to be a dye application across the whole outfit and not piecemeal by each body part.

The extent of which outfits can successfully be dyed (including pre-order cosmetics) is still either not decided yet or not yet divulged. Probably the former.

I think its fine if we cant mismatch gear pieces but the bare minimum should be recoloring accessibility. If its a unique set it will get old quick if players cant do some type of customization on it.

    Already answered by Steven.

A: Dyes affect your entire character. Dying of individual pieces in different color is not possible.
B: Some costumes can be died. Some cannot.
The dyeability of costumes depends on the specific costume.[9]
Outside of wanting to keep maybe some identity from a lore perspective; for example if you have like a white lion's suit of armor, you may not want that white lion suit of armor to be black or blue. So, it's possible. It depends on the costume itself.[9] – Steven Sharif

I think the monthly cosmetics we currently have cannot be dyed.

I would like to see shop cosmetic be a set colour, however you can get the armor/unlock it in game in some way that can be coloured to any colour except the shop colours for exclusivly.
These armor can be rather hard to get in game but would be nice to have an option to get something similiar to shop stuff and allows reuse of assets

They don't even know how they're going to implement the cosmetics, yet. They're not going to have decided about dyeing, yet.

Personally I'd rather they didn't have buyable armor cosmetics. Really defeats the achievement of grinding for cool high tier gear if a newbie can look better than you because they spent money. They could do a lot of buyables without touching the armor. Freehold cosmetics, mount cosmetics, artisan gear cosmetics.

I personally hope " ALL ARMOR-Items " (and maybe Weapons) can get colored in various, different Colors. From pure white to raven-black and with all Colors in between. Holy damn, maybe even chromatic in the released Version one Day.

And Yes i am aware some US-Americans fear People will color the Robes of Carphin Set purely white and look like Ku-Klux Klan Members and i could honestly not give any less f°°°°s.

For me it is only of Importance that we get a great Amount of Freedom for our Cosmetics - because more and greater Freedom always adds to the Fun. ;)

Yet i can not forget that some "Cosmetics" which are Pre-Order Packs - are no longer available, right ? And if my Memory serves correct - Sir Steven and his mighty Crew stated more or less before that "different Color-Variants" of Pre-Order Cosmetic Sets will (hopefully) be available in the released Game.

So i assume there will maybe - "hopefully" - be a lot of Options there to re-color our Armor-Sets, cool Cloaks, Helmets, etc. - to our liking. But i also assume that there will be a few Options locked -> so that we can not let all Armor/Item-Sets look in a way that it resembles the Pre-Order Packs.

    Yes.
And be it ONLY to respect the Money and Will of the People who decide to purchase said Pre-Order Packs. :sunglasses:
