Getting Banned
I would like to go over some things that have just happened to me in New World and would hope that it does not happen to me in AOC. They had a pop up when I logged in saying I was banned for cheating and to fill out a form to fight it, which I did then got a follow up email from them saying the following:
Hello,
We reviewed the information you provided on your appeal, and didn't find a penalty applied to your account.
As a result, we're unable to process your appeal with the provided information. If you still believe that you received a penalty on your account and want to file a new appeal, please make sure to:
1. Confirm your account details (correct account, character name, and server) and any details about the penalty you may have received (date, length of penalty).
2. Provide evidence to substantiate your appeal.
Thank you,
Amazon Games Customer Service

At which point I replied the following:
Hello,
That was something that it asked for when filling out the form, character name: Queen Nyx. Sever: Castle of Steel. Account nwngamer1 which should have shown up also on the ticket. I am starting to think that you all did not get any information sent to you. This is what it asked me to do when filing it out and this is the pop up that I got that says I am Permanent Bad, Reason: (Cheating)
I do wish to thank you for responding with the email so fast, that was something that I did not think was going to happen. Thank you again. But I question what information was being sent to you. Once again, I wish to know what Cheating I am being charged with. As I have said before, I do not cheat and if I was to cheat I would not in this game, I would not get anything from cheating in this game as I am not part of a guild I do not participate in wars and would not need to use any AIMBOTs as others do, and when I partake in OPR if you pull the data you will see I PVE and not PVP as I can not compete with other players that NEVER seem to miss at all. Not all of them but enough that I get sick of zig zagging just to get hit in the head by every bow and musket in OPR.
Thank you.
This game has under 15k World Wide player base, which in my eyes is very low over all. And to tell the truth due to the level of AIMBOT users in ORP's I really did look into an AIMBOT, no one likes running around getting hit in the head and killed by players that NEVER miss, but they are all either pay my day or month, none that I found that are free so I gave up on it. But here is the reply they gave me.
Hello,
We reviewed the information that you provided on appeal and have confirmed that the original disciplinary action was merited in your case. We take instances of cheating seriously as it’s harmful to the community and violates section #3. Play fair of our Code of Conduct (https://www.amazon.com/help/ags/coc).
As a result, your New World account remains permanently banned
We understand this may not be the result you hoped to receive, but based on the information provided in your appeal, we can't change the penalty applied.
If you still feel that you were mistakenly penalized despite following all rules in the Amazon Games Code of Conduct, we would appreciate it if you could provide further evidence to substantiate your appeal.
Thank you,
Amazon Games Customer Service

And here was my reply:
Hello,
Thank you once again for your quick response. And I have looked into this violates section #3 that you said.
Do: play within the rules of the game.
Do not: exploit bugs or other unintended uses of game features.
Do not cheat, bot, hack, or use other software or services that give you an unfair advantage through, for example, unattended gameplay or game modifications.
Do not engage in real-money trading of in-game items and in-game currencies.
We reserve the right to determine what constitutes unfair play and to take corrective action we deem appropriate.
I have done nothing in Section #3 of your rules as stated before. I do not cheat, this is to include, I do not bot and have submitted many reports of others that are botting (farm bots and aimbots) as they hurt the game overall and others that play. I have seen many people in the game leave because they can not win in OPR due to others that NEVER seem to miss. A few players that seem to move X2 the speed of others and can 1 v 5 and win a fight, which I am still looking into how this even happens. And farming bots as I can never seem to find mats because there are 3-6 farming bots criss-crossing each other to get the mats before I do. I do not wish to spend all my time in the game running around to where mats should be just to find out that they are never there, because of bots. I have seen that some players have been putting tents on mat spawn points like the Silkweed and Wirefiber, stopping them from respawning just because if they cant have them then no one will.
So my question is to you, for the 3rd time, when is it that you say you caught me cheating. What day and time and where was I, do you have video or other data that shows that I was cheating, Like a farming bot that does the route over and over and over again to the same point 100% even to the point of trying to pick up mats that have not spawned yet? How am I to defend myself from this "If you still feel that you were mistakenly penalized despite following all rules in the Amazon Games Code of Conduct, we would appreciate it if you could provide further evidence to substantiate your appeal." when you do not ever tell me what it is that I have done.
Thank you once again for your speedy replays
After that every time that I asked them for what it is that they say I did for cheating, which I did not do, I get the following:
Hello,
We initiated a new review based on the information you provided on appeal and have reconfirmed our initial decision that the original disciplinary action was merited in your case.
We understand this may not be the result you hoped to receive. However, please understand that we've looked into your case carefully and that any further appeals on this issue will not result in a different outcome.
We hope you can understand why we take violations of our code of conduct seriously as these can be harmful to the overall community and integrity of the game experience for all.
As these situations can be contentious, we need to reserve the right to determine what constitutes fair play and to take corrective action when we deem necessary, to protect the community at large.
Further correspondence on this matter won't receive a response.
We appreciate your understanding.

The reason I am posting this is the following: 1 if you are going to say that someone has committed a crime and banning them then show the proof of this crime. I paid 40.00 on the game and put in 3247.3 hours of play on the game, had to look that up. The money is not a lot but the hours of play are. I could see if they did want to ban me for cheating, which I did not do, but to just say it and not show proof is over the top arrogance on their part. What I think happened was they got a group of players to send in reports of cheating and then they ban over that due to server mergers they had a load of new players in an area I would normally farm for mats and I think they are the ones that got that account banned. 2nd, I know that AOC will ban accounts, but have so way of showing the person that you are banning why they are getting banned. Example are have a way of recording a 3-5 mins of the game to be sent in on a report so that if you ban that player this recording of them doing the wrong thing can be sent to them as proof. Data on Hit rate vs miss rate of players and even where they are hitting like your toon has hit a player in the head 15 out of 15 times, but when you are attacking NPC or mobs you are hitting all over the place and not the head, Rust has the ability for the Admins to log in as the player and see the game as they see it so they can tell if a player is using a wall hack or other cheats.
What Amazon did and how they handled this issue is something that has put me off of any game that they have their fingers in and have uninstalled my other New World account and both Lost Ark accounts, yes I play more then one account because storage in all games suck and other account can do some AFK farming while I play another account, I have more then one computer. Over all hours played where New World: 3247.3 and 3217.4 and Lost Ark 1270 and 1795. I was not banned from my other New World account nor any of my Lost Ark account, but would not play another game that AGS puts out due to the over all ARROGANCE of this company. I know this is long but do not make the same mistakes they have made, I am looking forward to your game.
Thank you.

So no, they shouldn't disclose any info.
Rwgarding the rest of the rambling, that was unnecessary
I won't say that their systems are good, however, and there should be a good effort made to make sure the systems are working correctly and have a low false positive rate, but unless you give up on catching cheaters at all, you will always risk making mistakes.
It's unfortunate that mistakes can't be explained, discussed and rectified, but secrecy is a hard requirement in this field. Anti-cheat is spy vs spy, and so sadly, they don't get a choice to be open.
We certainly hope that AoC will have an error free system. But it is upon us, the players, to make sure that our conduct is above reproach. Never visit gold-selling websites (much less use them), never investigate cheats or exploits (much less use them), don't hang around cheaters, don't guild with cheaters, don't be proponents of cheating.
I am not accusing the OP of doing any of that, of course, just giving unsolicited advice to the player population.
The man is sad that his account was banned. You could have omitted this sentence.
Which is sad alright. But rambling on the forums of another game? Hell no.
Well, assuming good intent, I think he's simply providing a real-life use case of how a customer got bent over the barrel in a broad ban of accounts.
If he did cheat, that's exactly how I would want to process to respond.
If he didn't cheat, it's an awful customer experience. If that happens 1/50,000 players it's a hedged bet on the side of the game's integrity. I think it's good to have an actual appeals process where a case can be reviewed - think if that 1 player was one of the top influencers in the game space.
Either way it's a valid operations question - rambling or not.
If you didn't cheat OP, that really sucks. Hopefully Intrepid has a better system. Innocents getting caught up in these types of things unfortunately happen sometimes, but every effort should be made to minimize it.
Probably many bots were banned. If some survived, they did because they simulate a player better.
You became more like a bot, maybe even using alarms on your phone to know when to swap from one computer to the other one.
They knew you have more computers.
They gave you the chance to tell them and you didn't.
Instead you demanded, like here, them to tell you what you did wrong:
If you try so hard to farm resources and you end up being better than a bot, you are as harmful as them, to the community which have only one computer.
In AoC, if you try to afk near resources, basically destroying nature and lowering their normal spawn rate
- players will help nearby mobs defeat you then they'll take your resources
- the mayor will destroy your appartment in the city
Was a big thing in WoW for a while.
Or you're a cheater lol who knows.
