Discussion: Extreme Rarity: Visual items/mounts having Limited amount &/or Time?

So, atm we know flying mounts are extremely rare, limited amount present in the server and for a limited time.
That is awesome.

But should the scope stop there?


Let's pretend Intrepid was in charge of World of Warcraft. Should the AQ Mount be a one time thing / event / limited amount and never again to be seen OR should there be some type of clause? EXAMPLE:

The rare AQ Mount from Classic Wow - Black Qiraji is an extremely difficult quest and only 10 players in the server can ever get it. Should AoC create something like this? or add a stipulation - 10 of these mounts will ever be present in the game *INSERT CLAUSE***

Clause being:

If the mount has been inactive for X amount of months (3-6 months) - it is removed from the player's inventory and added back into the pool, for another player to potentially get. The player will receive the non-rare colored Qiraji as the replacement in the event the player returns back into the game. This removes a special rare mount from an inactive/dead account and allow another player a chance to gain it.

How would the community feel if we open this up a bit further...

Example 2:

Let's pretend AoC Fire Dragon drops a legendary Flame Sword. It is a 100% drop every time.
BUT there is 2 skins, the common basic flame sword and a VERY EPIC VISUALLY PLEASING Flame sword. The epic version has the SAME STATS - only its visual appearance is different and the drop rate of that is 0.005% and there can only ever be 1 in existence in the server world.
Once again - the clause is added - If the item hasnt been equip or if the account has been inactive for X amount of months, that sword will revert to the common looking one and the EPIC looking one is entered back into the pool as a potential drop.

This will always create or give these special items presence in the world. Too many times in many MMO, rare items (either stats or visually) becomes deactivated and player(s) stop playing and these special items are never to be seen again by others. With this - the item continues to float in the world. Not stuck behind a 3 year dead account forever lost in time.

How would you guys feel about a system like that?

Remember - this is about VISUAL items/mounts/skins - nothing to do with Stats,
With that said - would you like to see a handful of UNIQUE (1 of 1) items like this or a set amount like the flying mounts, 10 in the world)?

    talking about the mechanics of - if that accounts becomes inactive after a certain peroid of time, that legendary item - ATLEAST IN LOOKS (skin) is reverted to a basic looking item but the visual one is returned back into the Loot Table, for someone else to get and keep, as long as they are continuously active in the game.

    Didn't want to use the word Legendary, as this apply to rarity, which can include legendary bit doesn't need to be locked in the tag "legendary".
