I'm not sure if musical instruments will be implimented outside of the Bard's class, but I think that adding musical instruments for people to play by themselves, and in a band of multiple players combined would be an addictive and fun addition to the game.

Lolol very funny guys. But think to yourself how can a race survive so long with out music? It shouldn't just be the joke of the Blues Brothers, but the idea that the elves, humans, dwarves, orcs, and tulnar all used music as motivation or even as enlightenment.
You could have music involving lutes, drums, flutes, horns, and even harps or tambourines. Imagine setting up for a raid on a node, or defending a node, and being in the area of a bard and a couple of musicians who are playing a song preparing you and themselves for the battle that lies ahead. It'd be epic

I believe it's in discussion, but they're still building the important game parts at the moment:

"The Bard archetype is intended to have musical abilities.[6]

Bards may be able to play musical instruments, such as Flutes and Bagpipes.[7][8]
Custom music creation (using the likes of the Music Macro Language) will not be present in the game on release.[9]"

If pets can be combat pets outside of summoner, and potions can heal outside of clerics, why can't music be outside of bards?

if you want to sing, you have to be a bard.
Why you want to be something else and have the last unique bard perk too?

Dude, there are plenty of games that allow you to play games where you can sing, dance, and play musical instruments outside of being a bard. This video is hillarious btw

I posted some bard suggestions here for a Music Gameplay style of Bard.
I hope playing in a band has combat/ mechanical applications, including drawing up resources from the Earth and regrowing Forests. . . Play for 30 minutes with 2 others and a ton of ore surfaces, or the forest all regrows with uncommon or even a rare herb or 3.

MIDI support for out-of-combat playing would be good though.
