Metropolises

I know it's petty, but it makes me wince each time I see it, and it's giving me a tic.
I'll accept Metropolises or Metropoles, but Metropoli just isn't right.
I know, I have a problem. But, why say it wrong when we can learn and improve?!

metropolis (wikitionary) (plural metropolises or metropoleis or metropoles or metropolizes or metropoli or (obsolete) metropolisses or (obsolete) metropolis's)
And here's the rub my danger mouse. English is an unruly mob. The more people say the wrong thing the more it gets accepted as an 'allowed' thing. So by the very act of Intrepid being wrong they are right as long as more people repeat it
P.S. Grammar is for nerdz :P
And I could go in there and edit it to say whatever I wanted it to. Doesn't mean it's correct. If I went in and updated it to say that the plural of "metropolis" is "duck a l'orange", it wouldn't be correct.
Metropoli is correct though. See wiki
Oh wrong thread. Carry on.
Because it's correct?
I'm sure that people went to that wiki page and put those random incorrect plural forms there. Chill, bro.
Worst part is that I don't like metropoli and only use metropolises, but you do you.
But if you wanna use the Latin, it's "metropoles." Greek would be "metropoleis" in reference to a literal city-state.
English is "if the word ends in the letter 's', 'ss', 'z', 'ch', 'sh', or 'x' you add 'es'." Which gives us "metropolises."
That means military Tulnar would not use the same ending like Kaelar peasants?
