green alt spys?

Member, Alpha Two
just curious.. is there anything to stop me from having an alt whos green to scout out dungeons and see how many people are farming it ect before sending in my guild to kill them all?.. or to follow a caravan and keep tabs on it/whos all with it ect?

mhm.. thats not exactly what this is though is it? this is abusing the corruption system to gain intel.. normally you'd just kill someone who was spying on your group to prevent this kinda stuff.. but if they're using greens to do it ya kinda dont wanna do that.. so youre forced by the game mechanics to either allow them to stand there and monitor what youre doing or take corruption which means you might drop your gear too...and your stats are lower which is a + ..idk just a thought
It isn't abusing the corruption system.
If you are able to get in to a dungeon solo, sure, see who is there.
If your guild needs to know how many people are in a dungeon before going in though, you are probably not going to do all that well in there.
As to following a caravan, of course you can. Once again though, it is unclear how that is going to be to your advantage unless you have people ready to attack it already in place. If you have those people in place, what exactly is it you are scouting?
The whole point of the corruption system is to allow you to kill a person who you don't want to be in the presence of. In any other game you wouldn't be able to do that. The existence of a green player in a dungeon is the direct enabler of the corruption system.
Yeah only in boring mmos or where it is not necessary anyway.
Pretty viable and important as such in Archeage and EvE.
aight.. so.. my understanding of the corruption system is that if you kill a green you gain corruption which will cause you to lose items on death and take statloss.. now if thats the case.. its a good idea not to kill greens..
what im going to do is make a green alt and go into a dungeon and walk through it, maybe kill some mobs or whatever.. see whos all there. what classes they are, how many people ect.. and probably wait till youre in the middle of fighting some mobs/low on health.. then im gonna tell my buddies on discord..k ya .. 2 of them are low.. and one is off fighting alone or wahtever.. they're gonna come in and kill you with that info... now.. after awhile you start to notice that every time this gankez feller is here his guild comes in and wipes us.. so what do you do? kill me? cool.. im gonna come back.. over and over again... youre gonna keep racking up stacks of corruption (hell i might send multiple guildies with alts just to cause you take more stacks of corruption) .. which means when my boys come to kill you they gotta chance of getting your gear also... dont kill me? ok ill use that to sit there and watch you and wait for a good time for my guys to come and gank you again.. and this will happen over and over again... so your options are take corruption or go to another dungeon.. how is this not abusing the corruption system?
admittedly its not as useful when following a caravan because if ya kill me i no longer know where you are.. however you are being forced to take stacks of corruption and thus punished by the system that was suppose to protect innocent little newbies in order to defend your caravan... i wasnt a direct threat to you but you are forced to kill me because if you dont then you have someone telling a group of pks exactly where you are at all times.. and believe it or not that is important information ...
Still don't see how that's "abuse of the system". This is all intended gameplay.
You gonna do this solo? My full party will just kill you outright. One of us will take the corruption, you die. We go back to grinding it off with him. You come back? The time it took you to get back halfway through the dungeon solo was long enough to burn off most of that guy's corruption. A different one of us will take the corruption. By the time you get back a third time, the first guy will have burned his off. You COULD keep this up. It'd be an... interesting way to spend your playtime.
More likely the third time you come back solo, blatantly to spy on us, we're going to call our guild, nodemates, or similar. Even if your party swoops in, you get to pick off one red (with half a kill worth of corruption), at best. More likely we'll maneuver to force you to go purple to avoid a wipe. If THAT went sideways? Now we've DEFINITELY called friends.
well ya i guess thats on me for assuming that people were gonna be flagged purple for the most part and only newbs would be green... i guess if everyones running around green then it kinda doesnt matter
Everyone (except Reds) are Green at almost all times. Purple state wears off after 90 seconds out of PvP combat.
or i could mob drop you, and force you to either attack me, so that me and my group can kill you without gainigng corruption, or force you to retreat. also, remember theres no instant teleport. i could pk you and cleanse the corruption before your freinds come to where i am
also, you arent progressing if you do that all day on ur alt lmao
Imagine you have a green spy running an auto loot script, or your friend brings a green.
You can gank people and if anybody kills your ganker then you can scoop your loot back!
Ninja loot yourself, I used to do that a lot in Ultima Online and EVE Online... the truest pvp games ever made.
The corruption system is a bad idea as an attempt of appeasing the bot apirant carebears, but what will really happen is that people will use the corruption system in extreme ways and the system will be just a tug of war of griefing.
