Rare Spawns with Cosmetics

Long time FFXI/FFXIV/WoW player.

Something that really excited me about AOC is seasons and weather and the impact it could have on spawns, which got me to thinking of some of my favorite memories of FFXI, ""Notorious Monster" hunting for rare items that could only be gotten from specific rare mobs.

I would love to see this implemented into AOC for something in the world for us collectors to hunt, or even for profit. Ideally these drops are unique story-esque cosmetics, as cosmetics always have value. These systems breathe life into the world and gives reasons to revisit areas around the year.

Just some quick examples:
Perhaps there is a ghost soldier that only spawns during the winter that drops his ghostly 2h Sword.
A named lizard that drops its hide as a cloak that only spawns when its raining.
A ghostly spook or banshee that drops a ghoulish robe that only sometimes spawns between 11:00-1:00 in the server.
A hunter NPC or enraged beast that spawns only in over-harvested locations with a thematic drop.

There are so many cool ways to introduce these types of mobs with the systems AOC has. I'd love to see something like this so I could hunt rare mobs. :)

    We already have elements of this guaranteed in the implementation of the Animal Husbandry system, as it's been told to us, actually. Animal spawns are intended to be semi-randomized with varying stats and colorations with chances of mutations so that animal tamers are always able to go out and find unique animals to tame and bring back to civilization.

    Not quite what you're asking for, admittedly, but it realistically wouldn't be difficulty to extend the concept of the system to what you're asking for. Making specialist creatures that spawn rarely and/or randomly for that extra oomph, and sometimes even world bosses that you need a group to tackle is something that I think absolutely everyone can get behind.

    I'm not someone who really cares about cosmetics, but I am absolutely with you on wanting rare spawns to be a thing. I think it's an easy way to add an exciting element to the game that can't be micromanaged. Timed spawns run the risk of being permanently camped by a dedicated group of individuals. Rare spawns generally aren't worth trying to monopolize given that they are, well, rare, and unpredictable, but it always feels really cool when you happen to get one.

    The more 'special' events to break up monotonous grinds the better.
