PvE Hunting events

Since AoC has an awesome weather and seasons system, it would be cool if they trigger hunting events.

Events in which there are herds of animals travelling by, herds will pass by and travel around, could be packs of wolves, big mammals, agressive or passive creatures, could be anything from land or sea (shiver of sharks, consortium of crabs by the beaches) and so on.

Seasonal and weather could trigger migration events and players could come together for the big hunt and have a chance of stockpiling those gatherables and satisfying their needs

Since AoC already have an event system, weather and seasons system, spawning system, pathfinding (maybe a flock pathfinding) then it could wrap it all up in hunting events.

This is a PvE only activity, adds to the living world experience and it's good for solo and groups.

Since it's based on the seasons and weather then it won't happen everyday and there will be no grinds for this.

  • The big herds and packs of animals mechanic could work great with this idea. I am just worried about it feeling unrealistic once players will inevitably slaughter the entire herd, which in real life would mean next season there will be no herds.

    Ancient north American indigenous people knew this. They lived on the hunting of this kind of big packs but they knew if they over hunted then it would go away forever.

    But your idea feels amazing and it makes the world feel more alive. I am all for any mechanic that makes the world feel alive.

    Since its a game I would give it a shot, I am also looking for immersive game design, but sometimes it works if design is good and I think this could be a nice feature.

    I love those small events that happen from time to time, its like rituals that I will do every once in a while. Same thing happened to twitter when Musk bought it and it felt entertaining for quite some time then it all went to normal. If you give players these events similar to this it will have popularity in player base (I think at least)

    If we consider the Land Management Score system, killing a large portion of this herd could decrease the LMScore for the area which could have negative effects on the spawn rates in the area.

    There could be lots going on around this type of thing. It would be a PvX content because I could see several player choices and conflicts around a migration

    Someone role playing robin hood hunting the kings deer 🤣 Or more likely a landowner or node owner wanting to preserve their land management and not letting players hunt the migration.

    Players attacking other players who are not following the "rules" of the hunt. Maybe just indiscriminately killing the animals without skinning or butchering them.

    Maybe an additional bonus objective in a node war. The winner gets access to the area where the migration occurs every fall.

    Just plain old PvP player killers hunting the migration of hunters coming to hunt the migration.
