Resistance stat topic

How do you like having resist stat in RPG games.

In classic WoW there used to be resist stats that would have an impact on certain elements. If you had certain number on resist stat it would go from having moderate resistance to good or very good, this would effect some spells depending on your resistance level. It would reduce chance to hit with spells even reduce spell dmg by %. This would not happen always obviously for balancing reasons, but it would happen often enough to have some impact.

In classic Vanilla some raids could not be done if tanks did not have proper gear with resistance stat due to dmg from bosses. This gear did not have tier sets, but flat resistance + stamina stat for tanks (stamina increased HP pool)
This created big role on how people played classic because it was grindy to get this gear, it would create this vibe of sustaining your character and grinding for this specific thing that would benefit whole guild in PvE situations. There were also resistance flasks that people would buy for playing battlegrounds (PvP), it lasted for 2 hours and did you did not lose buff due to dying. Intrepid could design certain plants to have drop chance to drop some essences that increase your resistance by %, maybe change it how WoW resistance works and make something simpler, like flat % dmg reduction (10% resistance, 20%, 30% etc...) or maybe have alchemists to create these things that would make PvE encounters easier and it would make more varieties to farming/sustaining your character.

I would like to see what community things about this and if its possible for intrepid to create something similar if they did not already create this.
