The Balearic Slingers were the most deadly sling mercenaries from the ancient world.
Ancient sligs could shoot targets at 400 meters (1312 feet) away at speeds of 100 km/h (62mph).
According to historical accounts, they could break helmets, shields and armor.
The sling is the weapon David used to kill Golliath
Medical texts from the period would frequently have registers of finding such bullets inside people's bodies, the bullets could be made of stone, baked clay or lead.
Yes, lead and frequently they would have inscriptions with lightning bolts, snakes, scorpions, etc.
They would also scuplt the lead in a way that the bullets would whistle for psychological impact.
