How does the camera work so far?

I asked a similar question quite a while ago, but I wanted to check in to see if anythings changed or if I could get a concrete answer on this.

What I'm looking for is the mouse to move the camera and character together like an action 3rd person game. More specifically like a 3rd person shooter. Is there an option to toggle that sort of camera mechanic on? GW2 I believe plays like that by changing some settings or something like New World. Warframe is probably a good example of what I'd like to see. I hate having to hold down a button to turn the camera and just want to play more like a shooter would. I don't really play MMO's that much, because there's not many that feel good to play mechanically (my opinion) and are also a sandbox type experience. AoC checks all the boxes and I'm contemplating buying an Alpha 2 key.

Sorry if this has been asked before or the information is somewhere. I tried to look, but couldn't find any information that 100% confirmed how it works.

Thanks.

Pretty sure you're talking about the action camera mode, so yes, Ashes will let you do that

I read that before, but I actually didn't see the video there in the corner. Thanks for linking that! The video helped clear up some of my concern.

Most of the game play I've seen looks like it's been using the more traditional tab targeting mode. I was getting pretty worried that would be the predominant way of playing or even the only legitimate option.

I'm still a little concerned though, because it still doesn't quite look 100% like an action camera. That could be because most of the game play I've seen with the Action Camera has been with the Ranged class? I understand it's going to be a hybrid combat system and that some classes will be more optimized to play one way or another.

I know not many people have probably played the Alpha, but any more information would be helpful. It's just such a deal breaker for me if the game doesn't feel great to move around in the world if that makes sense.

    Have you seen this?

This had more action combat than other showcases. Steven's a tab gamer through and through, so he doesn't really show off action all that much.
  • That's definitely what I'm looking for, thanks.

I also think the Tab Targeting will probably feel just fine or great even if you can transition smoothly between looking around with Action Camera and locking onto targets. It looks like once you're locked on that it rotates you to stay on target. It looks smooth while watching it, so hopefully it feels good as well to play like that.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it.

I've noticed that and I think that's what was concerning me a bit too. I tried one of his bigger inspirations for this game Archeage and I just couldn't stand the movement in that game or FF14.

Then you should DEFINITELY NOT try Lineage2 :D
