Open world pvp "kinda" quests/events.

I think it'd be cool if there were random events like protect this npc log cabin in the woods for x minutes. During this time, there would be a reduced death penalty in x radius around the cabin. Other players could attack to try and rob the cabin for rewards. I'd like organic events like that to pop up. I think it'd b a fun mech.

A step up from that could be you come across a group of merchants with a broken down carriage and if you escort them to town you recieve a reward and other players could attack aswell. If they died, they would spawn far enough away that they, in theory wouldn't be able to make it back to attack you again b4 u reach town. Same as first. There could b reduced death penalties.

Small open world events or pvpish quests would be enjoyable. Especially for smaller groups or even solo players. I know the game is intended for group play but you won't always have a large group with you so this could just be some more activities to enjoy. This could also help to get no pvpers to try a bit more pvp since the risk to them isn't nearly as great as running their own personal caravan.

Would you like something like this?
If you would, then what kind of events/ quests of this kind would u want?

I like the idea. They could be public quests like GW2.

I might have the game wrong, however, public quests would start when the appropriate number of players are in a specified location. Thus, teams could be created or objectives given. People would have to work as a team against ai or others to complete the objectives.

That sounds enjoyable and would work pretty seamlessly with the above ideas

Any chance TL will learn from GW2?

Why would I want to defend it, when I can make it easier and kill the npc for a quick cash out. If the reward is better for defending - why would I want to attack it instead of teaming up with you to defend it?

I don't think you'd need to do anything about the death penalty, assuming both parties are attacking each other they would both be purple and suffer the standard purple consequences. What is the reason for reducing any penalty and not simply just adding objective based events that encourage pvp.

Good point. The caravan could b broken down on the road and u could then A help them get it fixed and then escort or B just go about your day.

The option to attack would only b for those who are passing by and notice you, similar to a regular caravan.

The reward could scale based on hit many players you fight off if your the Defender and if your the attacker, then it wolf scale based on how many players are defending.

Just spit balling ideas ofcourse, so I don't doubt there may be some flaws.

Hmm that's true, u wouldn't need to necessarily reduce the penalties. My logic was that it'd b a nice way to get players who lean more into pve a chance to try some pvp without fear of losing as much. Inch them into higher tier pvp so to speak.

Be careful what you ask for ... you give carebears an inch and they will take a mile.

After concessions for the "log cabin" example, entitlement creeps in ... with further requests for reduced death penalty in core activities like sieges and caravans.

All of a sudden there's no risk versus reward and you have the New World debacle all over again.

maybe the rewards for attacking or defending are different? you need to attack to craft your weapon, but you need to defend it to get mats to craft your armor.

maybe you cant team up with the defender because there is a limit on how many people can defend?

These are all just spit ball ideas ofcourse so maybe someone at intrepid sees them and it helps in some way. Though i can't see this as making any concessions for a "carebear " since this would be adding a new activity with its own rules as opposed to changing an activity already present in the game because it's too hard or something.
