[Suggestion/Idea] Making gathering more interactive and rewarding

As an aspiring Master Gatherer I have come forth to present you my idea (not original) on making gathering more than a "press E simulator". I also believe it fits nicely in the "Risk vs Reward" theme AoC is based on and will make the world of Verra slightly more dangerous.
So here is the gist of it (skip for TL:DR):
Lets say for example you are cutting trees like a madman, with money in your mind you wipe out a whole forest leaving many animals exposed and without shelter, your greed knows no bounds and if left alone you will flatten the whole continent, but to cease your hubris to Mother Nature the guardian of the forest has come to protect it. The guardian could be a "living" tree or anything related to the forest, it would be powerful enough to give you a hard time and even kill you if you don't perform your best but the rewards you get for killing it would be much greater than a few trees, perhaps experience and resources worth a dozen trees or maybe some special armor piece/resource (low chances) which when others see it will know that you truly are a committed lumberjack.
This could work for all of the gathering professions with each having its unique "mini boss". The chances of it happening would start increasing after a certain amount of gathering within a time period but it would be rare enough to not hinder your gathering routine (or make the leveling process that much faster). For some it might sound like nuisance and doesn't much their dream of a relaxing farm life but I really think it suits the "Risk vs Reward" principal AoC is based on, you can either choose to flee and miss out on faster resources/Exp or grit your teeth and face the deadly foe head on. I honestly don't know how hard it would be to balance something like that (probable a lot) since different level adventurers will be triggering the event and it should be hard but beatable at any level.
I am also not sure if it fits the lore in any way since I have yet to dive deep in the Wiki and I am sure there are a lot of counterpoints to be made, but it would overall make gathering slightly more interactive and rewarding.
