Why EverQuest should have been the staple.
I remember a time when there was no internet the only pvp back then was if you had some friends over and you had more than one controller. I was introduced to D&D by friends after that my love for the fantasy world grew. Aol became thing internet dial up. I found EQ and again fell in love with the fantasy world. But this time it was so much more because I wasn't just playing with close friends around a table rolling dice. I was playing with people from all over the world that loved the same thing as me. People that genuinely loved to help each other those were such good times. You ask me why I'm still hear I'm here because I've dreamed of the day when I could get that feeling back. EQ had pve servers, pvp servers, roleplaying servers everything was separated. It worked and should have continued to be the staple for MMORPG games that came after. But times changed new younger player base came in players that wanted less pve less roleplaying and more pvp. So, developers took out more and more of what older players loved. Unfortunately, that just promoted toxic game play that you see on most MMORPG games now days. AoC is supposed to be a pve, pvp, roleplaying game but with some of the mechanics they want in the game that ends up a lie. I don't want to be forced to pvp just so the game mechanics of your node system work. I've put money into this game already and all I get is harassed by Founder and Kickstarter people telling me that my money means nothing to the developers............................So, with all that said what do you think is the golden age of MMORPG games gone for good lost to the younger toxic players because that's how I see it.

Also, why did you pay money to a game that had mechanics that you dislike? Did you not look into what you were buying? And if yes, why should mods care about your poor purchasing choices?
The game's design hasn't really changed since the first announcement. Yes, it doubled down on pvp in some spots, but the systems you dislike were the exact pillars that attracted a lot of other people to the game.
In other words, people, please think before you waste your money on things you don't know.
I also prefer just one game. Not PvE or PvP just the game where everyone comes together and does their own thing. I realize some people don't like the idea of just one game as we all have our preferences.
First some fact finding - in one of your post, you mentioned you joined Everquest in the Plane of Power era (4th or 5th expansion) with memories of Planes of Knowledge.
(EDIT --- MY APOLOGIES - I took you for someone else, his forum name also started with a Dol... So ignore the "fact finding" accusation I threw at you - but my points below still stands - unedited)
EQ raid scene has always been toxic. You would have SK and Monks train you and Feign Death as you are forced to wipe or exit the zone, losing your camp / kills.
Only hardcore no lifer raiders got to sniff the raid scene, since spawns were on a RNG timer. Everyone needed to be on ICQ and eventually Teamspeak for raid calls. If you couldn't wake up at 4am as a kid and log in for a raid - you were kicked out. School? meant, those players who were 18+ didnt give a fuck. I know, I played EQ on release as a middle schooler.
Let's not forget the mechanics of the game and how some stuff are a 1 time event. The Sleeper - wake the sleeper up and you lose 4 specials bosses with special loot drops forever. PoP - gotta get keyed which was extremely tedious. I fucking love EQ for how hard it was but it has always been toxic.
After PoK and with EQ2 - SoE/Daybreak - multiboxing made thigns even more worse and toxic.
P99 - awesome friendly community for 90% of the game, outside of the raid scene.
All high value items are 24/7 camped and with P99 rule of camping - they are protected. Go try and get the AC ring in S.Ro from the Ancient Cyclop for a week, you'll keep seeing the same guys over n over, so they can MQ sell the ring for Jboot. Anyone outside of that circle gets followed and will out tag you. They will make sure they got levitate on, SoW on, etc while you are relying on SoW pots which isnt as fast.
PoP also changed the landscape and was the final nail in the coffin for most EQ diehard fans. Why do you think p99 only stops at Velious. It was perfect and it was already extremely hard.
as someone else also pointed - before EQ, there was Ultima Online, the Quintessential godfather of MMO and Full Loot Open World PvP.
UO and EQ were toxic as all hell. Intentional Zone Trains, de-leveling you, out dpsing you, not abiding /list, the massive amount of ninja looting, ppl who would lie and say they will help get your corpse and after you /consent - we drag your body even further than charge you a fee.
OH WAIT - /consent allowed you to loot people body! imagine getting suckered by a cleric willing to rez you, after looting all your shit. Top guilds players were protected, Guild leaders didnt give a fuck u got scammed.
Boat ride glitch? it was possible to quickly get a spell off before everyone loaded in, cast levi on a player before he fully loaded in and he levi off the boat, missing his ride. fucking hilarious. EQ - EverQuest, EverCrack, EverToxic
the boat ride from BB to Freeport is 21 min, or 42 minutes round trip. So you got grief n lost 42 min until catching the next boat in the 3 sister islands and another 18 min to finally reach freeport.
ohh man, I got stories to tell.
T__T
while I hate the dated look, I am looking forward to it. Narc needs to stop bullying me.
So is EQ. They have hired many EQ guys, including Jeffrey Bard who eventually left 3 years later for an opportunity he has dreamed of. Regardless we are in good hands with Lineage and EQ backgrounds - hard to say something nice about AA.
