Retiring your PC to be an NPC

Maybe a silly idea, but I just thought about the concept of taking a player character you've levelled up and then retiring it to be an NPC on your freehold or a caravan guard. It'll keep the name, class, stats and gear and such.

I don't mean in a way that replaces other means of getting caravan guards and freehold NPCs, but as an addition to it. I would be ok with them being stronger than more generic guards.

I hope we get to design the looks of any of our NPCs anyway, so it's not so much that part of it, but I would feel differently about an NPC I took from lvl 1 to 50 myself, compared to one I just acquired for gold.

Expanding on it a bit, I hope we can do the same with animals we breed through animal husbandry. Both as caravan guards and freehold NPCs.

Sounds like a fun idea in concept, it would be cool if it tracked your actions when using the character which then "trained" its behavior for when it becomes an npc

If you retired your main as an NPC on your freehold, who would own "your" freehold? You would "you" be?

You can buy and sell real estate in nodes, such as houses and apartments, so perhaps freeholds will also be bought and sold (this is currently not planned, but is subject to change, see the attached reference). If so, simply sell it to your alt who you now intend to play as your main.

Having characters your not logged in as appear on your freehold/housing would be cool tbh

Freeholds are owned by the account, not the specific character. Whichever alt you log into will have full control.
