Was taking a closer look at the full-res screens added (thanks for that Intrepid!) and noticed a few items worth discussing... not just in the crafting UI, but the item icons.
Really, it's more of a question about the crafting system overall... but since I suspect the Intrepid gang is holding off on answering specifics until a reveal, I figured we'd speculate.
In the image above, we see some gear icons with the familiar rarity colors... but within them, we see small "diamond" glyphs of varying counts.
The counts do vary by color/rarity, but I am wondering what they might indicate?
Is that a guarantee, or a "potential" quality based on inputs and skill?
Does it perhaps indicated quality level within that rarity? Which would be cool. It just would't make sense to always have the same diamond count == the same rarity, you wouldn't need both (unless for color blind accessibility reasons.)
We see further diamond indicators in the crafting window, but here it's even possibly less clear.
In the item craft list, do the diamonds indicate the maximum quality in that rarity you can craft?
There are also "child items" that have differing diamond counts than the parent, or each other. Does this indicate something about the skill lines and the way we'll be able to pursue and specialize in them?
Just random thoughts... would love to hear some other random thoughts!
