No. AI voice acting sounds shit atm. If they can't afford professional VA's then don't bother at all.

    YUP!

The only one who can validate you for all the posts you didn't write is you.

I don't think AI is "shit", if they make use of it in interesting ways, potentially it could create infinite quests, and response event types based on how you interact with the ai. They could feed up all the game lore, and the experience will be based on how you interact with, and the response wont be predefined, but it will be unique and based on the lore.
Imagine if the ai Npc can spawn scripted events, or made up quest on the spot, from a huge library of stuff, where it can take pieces and make it unique. And it will be purely based on how you progress and interact with npc's in the world. If the ai "feels tired", maybe he wont give you quests, unless you roleplay nice with, maybe it will give you a better quest reward, only because you interacted differently. Maybe other player corrupted the npc, and it will send you in dangerous places :D. I dunno, Ai power will be limitless in the future, and games will have infinite content.
A small glimpse into the future with a short prototype powered by nvidia ai, is just an example, use ur imagination for what we should expect in the next 10 years.

  • I hate the argument, "one guy did it! Imagine what a company could do!"
It is NOT one guy who did it. It is one guy who took lots of other people work {actual voice acting} and put it in a generator. But I guess most people who cheer for AI voice "acting" consider AI pictures a form of art and constantly use AI for their work/homework, so its pointless to argue.

I think it's awesome they are using the staffs voices. Can't wait to see what hero or bad guy dthey used Steven's voice for.

As someone who has played wow and FFXIV off and on for many years now, I can honestly say I never watch a single cut scene, or read quest text in full. I skim for objectives, and if I am not getting the desired results quickly, I will do a search. You are guaranteed to find the most efficient area to look or what it is that you are doing wrong within minutes. That guarantee is always going to be there because people either want the kudos of being the first to tell you or they make money from it. This will inevitably follow in AoC when it releases.

If I was playing classic this would be one of the first things I would be installing. It would be great imo if we get this tool in AoC.

I'm actually excited that I won't be obligated to read everything. Just let the NPC talk.

For me it's about the lore and the story. I also wear bifocals as well now. So reading quests can be a pain.

everything you just mentioned can already be made without ai, and its much faster
