Then you gotta wait for Alpha 2.
Alpha 1 was summer of 2021. You're a little late There may be spot testing that you could be invited to privately depending on your backer level. For that you would be reached out to by IS. Otherwise, wait for Alpha 2.
When comes Alpha 2?
All Steven has said is "Alpha 2 is not right around the corner but is not years away".
So anyone's guess really.
Mine is Spring of 2024.
unknown however livestream seems to hint soonish so maybe by end of this year or early next year if were lucky, they mention pulling alpha 2 packs soon in last livestream since they have enough testers which could indicate there looking to move to that phase soon but we dont realy know. best info we got currently :P
Will Alpha 2 have story too?
Will it be like a complete game but with bugs and balancing issues?
The Wiki has an up to date thread on all the things Alpha 2 will contain, additionally there has been a Q&A interview at the beginning of the year where Steven answered community questions regarding the Alpha, so you can check those out and get tons of information on all the questions you are having.
Thanks, looks like it will be a fully playable game.
How long can I wait to decide to buy Alpha 2?
There is no deadline yet. Steven has been on record that (1) sells for Alpha keys will end "soon" but people would get a more specific headsup before that deadline approaches and (2) that the Alpha 2 is "not years away" so at max 24 months after release of the interview where he said that (which was here).
So if I were you and not having an A2 key but definitely want one, I'd not buy just the current pack out of FOMO. Wait till you find a package that is actually to your liking. After all for an Alpha 2 key you will have to dish out an amount of currency that is not small.
By the end of Alpha-2, it should have at least the majority of stuff nailed down. But likely won't be like that from the get-go.
If the alpha 2 will take let's say 2 years to reach it's end, it is worth paying the price.
The core game is also the end game: sieges, ships, PvP, being with other guild members...
If the alpha 2 will be just one year I might wait.
"Alpha-2 will last until launch and will run in parallel with Beta-1 and Beta-2.[6][8]"

I expect Alpha-2 will be around for a long time. But, expect wipes/bugs/resets/etc. It's a testing and development phase, it's not a playing phase. Please factor that into your decision as to whether or not to purchase.
I don't mind bugs and wipes.
Seeing the game improve over time is also a good feeling.
What would bather me is if I see a state I enjoy and that state changes to something less enjoyable, maybe based on other player's feedback.
But this game seems to want to attract both PvP-ers and PvE-ers so big shifts which would upset me might be less likely. Hard to predict this and is a risk I have to take.
If Alfa 2 will be 3 or 4 years then reason to buy early is even higher. It will not be my primary game I play.unless the bug reporting activity makes me feel useful.
While certainly points that will be expanded with higher level, none of this is "end game".
Sieges - Two Tier 3 Nodes can have a war, the fortifications will be be less intricate than on a Tier 6 Node, but the will still be there. You can see the palisades and Watchtowers in the clip you find directly on the wiki at 0:12.
PvP - absolutely not level restricted
being with other guild members - not even sure if I understand that point correctly but since the balancing as far as it happened in this stage is said to be adjusted for an 8-player-group. Meaning forming a guild by association during the actual game time makes sense rather than just join someone randomly.
So even though there is a level cap, I don't think it will really restrict the gameplay much in the way you might have worried about
I think you refer to my initial questions:
- Will Alpha 2 have story too?
- Will it be like a complete game but with bugs and balancing issues?
I just wanted to estimate if it will be a long or short Alpha 2 phase and what kind.
Will the story be removed to prevent spoilers? If yes, maybe some charm is lost or could even be like a different experience, for some players a better one. If the story is added at the full release, then is like playing two games, one before and one after release.
Spring of 2024 LOL
Is this game ever coming out or just collecting peoples money?
Another popular misconception.
The pre-order cosmetic packs are totally optional, @EMODMGPRO … and primarily designed for two types of players:
- Hardcore PvX players with a primary interest in testing the game and providing feedback.
- Players who like what Intrepid is doing and simply want to support it without further obligation.
Steven continues to reiterate that the pre-order packs are not required to play the game … and players should feel free to wait and watch development from the sidelines. Paid subscriptions won’t start until the game releases.
