Customizing Pre-order packs

So, my fiancée and I have been following AoC for quite some time, and have gotten ourselves very hyped on buying early access into Alpha 2 and following beta sessions... now, she raised a very valid point, saying that while we ofc use the money to gain access and support the project it is still quite alot of money everything considered - and as such.. wouldn't it be a more pleasing/rewarding feature if you were able to customize your preorder packs?

Now, I get Intrepid wants these skins to be unique and as something to have their followers show off as being part of the OG supporters, but in the name of their own philosophy of having everything very customizable to the players and having the players express themselves through the game, it could be a cool thing to have here aswell.

I mean, 300+ dollars is alot of money no matter how you shake-n-bake it, and it would be cool to having the option of really diving into the packs and choosing which house, which mount, carriage, pets and so on you want to put into a pack... sure, the price could be upped then, but I feel like that would be fine!

Just a little food for thought ;)

nice idea going forward, a "mix n match" pack but be aware the Alpha 2 access part of the purchase is going to be changing in a few months and it's hinted the Alpha 2 keys will no longer be available to purchase

Yeah I've picked up on the fact that Alpha 2 access is going away very soon - which is why I wanted to raise the subject in hopes that someone from Intrepid would see it and go "yeah, that's actually not a bad idea" :D But thanks for telling me anyhows! :)

If you go for the $250 option, you still have the ability to purchase individual skins from the current month that aren’t included in package you purchased or those available in subsequent months.

For example, I bought into Alpha 2 a while ago, and that gives me the option to buy this month’s little fox mount skin as a single unit.

I’m not saying go one way or another with your own funds, but hope that helps add a little clarity.

Think it's a cool idea. Could be something like you get to exchange it like for like once or something when the game launches.

I think they are offering a freehold cosmetic exchange but that seems to be because of some players who bought one might not be able to use it.

But like @CROW3 says you now have the option to add to your cosmetics each month so keep an eye on anything that takes your fancy, I'm hoping for a Bear or Ram Mount 🤞

I really like this idea. I love some of the past skins. This game has some of the best skins I've seen among recent MMOs.

I definitely do not think it is a bad idea (quite the opposite) - but doing so now would certainly cause a major backlash among the people who bought earlier packs. (And I would not blame them considering these packs were sold on the pretense of being exclusive.)

So while this perhaps could work well when they "rework" the monthly packs, I very much doubt that they would include the previous cosmetics from earlier packs in such an idea. (Perhaps recolored variants though?)

Preorders are coming to a close soon. So a little late for such a change. It also would not go over well to offer a mix/match option now for past cosmetics. Because then people will feel agitated as they had to buy separately on occasion instead of just using the mix/match method. I personally have no issue with the price tag that came with the key. Keeps the trolls at bay... who wants to drop that kind of money and not take it serious and help intrepid find bugs and give meaningful feedback?

when someone turns in an exclusive skin for embers AoC could make that one skin available on an individual basis and still not ruin the rarity of the item, just the ownership

The first pack you buy costs a arm and a leg if you want access to all the cosmetics each month, but if you buy the highest tier that gives you access to all of them. Each month thereafter you can purchase any individual piece you want, kind of sucks you need to purchase the highest edition initially though.

I think when they say they'll be changing how it works in the future, I imagine since they won't be selling early access anymore all pieces will be buyable individually at any time.

    This months cosmetics individually cost
    Accessory $5
    Pets $15
    Mounts $20
    Naval cosmetic - $25
    Freeholds $25
    Armour sets $25

so you don't have to buy them all after the first full package you purchased

Being able to mix & match your cosmetics defeats the "Never again available" exclusivity of the monthly cosmetics. The only option I could see would be exclusively giving you a number of Embers based on which package you buy, so instead of getting like $90 worth of Embers + skins, you would just get $200 worth of Embers, and then allowing you to buy the monthly cosmetics with your embers as they become available.

I wasn't aware that this was a thing! (although only available for future packs, it's still sort-of what I'm looking for  )

Do you know if it only works with the "biggest" pack? or could you still buy the 250$ pack and then be able to buy Pets, Mounts, Accessory but then miss out on buying Naval, Freeholds and Armour?

You can buy cosmetics for the level of pack you bought and below. So if you have the £250 Voyager pack, you can get any items in those future packs and below but you can't buy the cosmetics from the £375 Voyager Plus pack.
    Hope that makes sense.

That makes perfect sense thank you!
