Permanent Bulletin Board Group Posts

Hello!

Just dropping an idea that I don’t believe has been talked about with regards to Bulletin Boards.

The idea is: once you post your group to the bulletin board, let it stay up even if the group becomes full. If your cleric has to leave in the middle of your session - your group would automatically update on the bulletin board to show the vacancy.

I think this would help to avoid the need to have a bulletin board that you can access in the open world since as long as you had registered your group, you will be allowed to accept new members with little disruption. It would also allow your group to continue progressing without having to have someone run back to town to relist your group on the local board.

Thanks

So basically a group finder? ESO currently has a system in place, if you're doing a dungeon and someone leave, your group will queue for a 4th person to join automatically.

I'd much rather have people go back to town and recruit someone new.
Especially in a game with no fast travel and no porting.

It’s not much different from how we understand the bulletin board system to work now. The difference with adjusting the bulletin board system instead of adding in a group finder tool you can access anywhere is that players wanting to join will still have to navigate to the bulletin board where you posted the party.

If your party doesn’t register with the bulletin board before heading out then they would need to go back and sign up to fill their group. Maybe could make it so full groups can’t sign up?

Actually this is the big positive I see in Ashes of Creation.
You should not kick players from the group. Not even by making them leave.
You start as a group and you have to try to finish what you started as a group.
You will learn to appreciate team members who make everything they can to stay with you and you will seek them out next time before even going to a group finder.
A group finder is for solo players who start making connections.

good post, love the bulletin board idea and further functionality is good

there needs to be a mid term from LFG to having absolutely nothing, I think this is good without introducing LFG

people that want groups to be made 100% through chat need to take in consideration that AoC is bringing back oldschool designs in a modern game, we need to meet halfway

I have a feeling you are one of those guys that mess up and keep getting kicked from groups

Don’t get me wrong, I feel the same way with groups as you do. If you join to do a two hour dungeon grind, make damn sure you actually have the two hours available to do it so you don’t waste everyone’s time.

Ultimately, most players will find themselves in a regular group of players via their guild or node community to party and play with. Those connections will eliminate the need for you to use the bulletin board most of the time.

The bulletin board adjustment I’m recommending makes the process of building up that trusted core group of friends easier, without making it as easy as a global LFG tool that most of us hate to see in other MMORPGs.

I'm expecting players to build that rapport by naturally grouping with the players who help progress your Node.
You should know who plays in your Village/Town/City/Metro at the same time you do.
And you should know who typically has time to run dungeons with you.
Just as you will know who helps you defend you Village/Town/City/Metro from Monster Coin Attacks and Sieges.

How long does it take to run from one side of the map to the other?
I think some players will not spend their time only in one node or only in their side of the map.

You will be learning who will do Dungeons/Raids with you and who won't.
And... you will also figure out when it's best for you to do local Dungeons/RAids and when it's OK to roam far away.
But, the game is designed primarily for 8-person groups with 1 of each Primary Archetype. So, probably best to try to stick with the 8 you know will typically have the time to finish a Dungeon.

Anyone that saw what actually happened in WoW with LFG would be totally against any system that allows players to treat each other as disposable.

Not surprisingly, the result of game system that essentially required players to treat each other as disposable lead directly to players treating each other as disposable.

If you are running a dungeon in Ashes and someone needs to leave, your group will want to escort that player back to the start if the dungeon, and potentially all the way home if there is need for that.

Any new addition to the group would also likely need to happen at the entrance to the dungeon, or in a nearby node if there is need for that.

As such, just use that time you have to spend looking for a replacement.

I dont mind having bulletin board to advertise LFG in nodes tbh but wouldnt want them at dungeons or anything
