Wave Based Combat?! What's the Lineage 2 version of it?

So as you can guess I am excited to hear the focus of the next LiveStream, and I want to maybe see if I can get my group hype too, but obviously I have no idea what kind of thing this means.
Is it like Garrison where it's literally just 'waves of mobs'?
Is it more like Besieged where there are technically waves, but the next one can arrive before you finish the first?
Is it full military flow where the waves themselves are variable like Campaign?
Since I know that Steven played L2, and the L2 forumers always say that they expect the game to be like that, what's the L2 version of this content like, so I can relay it to people? Is it like any of the above? It's own whole thing? Any reason why the old L2 version of this content type would require changes to work in Ashes?
Thanking in advance.

I dunno how much this was used on official servers, but on private ones this was usually just a tool to try and fuck over some people (potentially like 80+% of the server ) in the last minutes of the cycle.
I'd definitely expect way more variety, though definitely hope that the relation to other node features would remain (cause seven signs stuff was interconnected as hell).
Iirc that video about soulshots that I sent you mentioned SS cycles, so you can reference that a bit too, though I thiiink the video just skimmed it.

The closest thing to waves was in the Tiat instance. In a huge hall, there is a raid boss, and in the corners there are portals from which mobs endlessly flee if the portals are not destroyed.
Doesn't look like I'll be able to sway 'em, but I appreciate the time you took.
