Underwater combat with action skills?

How is it possible to hit an aoe skill underwater with no terrain? Maybe im missing something

    It depends how the AOE skill functions. Ground Target(GTAOE), point blank from player/entity, at focused target, cleaves are technically a form of AoE.

    Other than that, deal with the environment accordingly. Avoid being at a disadvantage in water.

    Same way we did it in Darkfall, you don’t unless it explodes on any impact.

    Never been much of a fan of underwater combat or play.. However watching some youngens play Genshin underwater, it was quite nice to see how it could be done quite well (as apposed to past experiences in other games)

    GW2 did underwater combat great. I really like it. That being said, no one else does and there is a reason Anet doesn't create underwater content anymore and hasn't for years. Cuz no one wants to play it. I would like it but it doesn't do well in games so it would be a waste of time sadly.

    Combat underwater is similar to combat in space.
    To create an AoE with action skills can be hard as you have to judge the distance to the target and you have no reference. We don't have stereoscopic view on a screen.
    The AoE could become a cone rather than a sphere, when we want to apply the spell away and not around the caster.
