Question About Surnames

I know from the wiki that you can have a optional surname and character names are unique per server and was wondering if that extended to last names too and not just first ones? Like if i wanted to create 2 characters 2 different first name but same last one would that be possible?
if this has been adressed already and anyone knows the answer please let me know

    I would imagine that if they have a different first-name, then that counts as a unique name. I'd be somewhat surprised if they made surnames unique, what with the family system as it is.
