Hybrid Creatures Ideas

This is a very straight forward post; my wife and I have been spitballin' ideas for hybrid creatures for a while now, and I just wanted to share them with you all! (note; as I do not have any artistic skills, I've had to rely on AI to help me get a bit of a visual  )

Bumblebee Buttefly
It's a very whimsical creature, but very straight forward: a large bumblebee with big and colorful butterfly wings.

The Artic Llama-Giraffe
This idea started as a woolley giraffe, with a meatier body, thicker legs and big mammoth-like furcoat, but we ended up on with a the picture of a Llama (which in itself is very woolley) but with the markings and horns of a giraffe! The idea is still that it has to be sort of an artic animal who is made for the cold and snowey regions of Verra.

The Tortoise Hippo
Mixing something with a turtle/tortoise was something we knew we wanted to try and work out an idea for, and we ended up with the idea for a pygmy hippo with a tortoise shell! The perfect sturdy and tanky animal - but with the cutest face of em all!

Flower-hedgehog (flowerhog?)
... yes, this is the pokemon Shaymin - and so what?! The idea of a hedgehog with flowers instead of spikes is awesome, and I stand by it

The Wombat Armadillo (Wombadillo?)
A wombat is perhabs one of the cutest animals in the world, and the idea of turning that into a rolling, armored ball of destruction is A W E S O M E! The idea is simple: A furry wombat, with an armadillo's body / ability to roll up into a ball.

The Horned Hare
A hare with the majestic antlers from a deer (or animal of that sort...). The idea was pinned down to a hare with the antlers and markings of a Sika-deer, but in a fantasy setting there could be so much potential for a small hare with huge beautiful antlers and glowing markings!

The Majestic Dodo-peacock!
I love dodos. I think they're awesome and cute, and it's the saddest thing that they're gone. And to honor that, my idea is a Dodo but with the characteristic big beautiful tail from a peacock!

Wolley Chinchilla
Either a chinchilla, a mouse, a hamster or some sort of rodent but with curly sheep wool to make them fluffy and curly!

Puffer-squid
A squid.. but with the ability to blow up it's head and get long deadly spikes to come out. My wife likes pufferfish, and we got inspired from playing Legends of Zelda, where Octoroks could blow up their head and throw rocks at you - but this one just puffs up and defends itself with huge spikes! (so if you see the picture, imagine the top part of the head blowing up and the small dots/spikes becomes long)

Seahorse Unicorn
It's an easy mix; seahorse + Narwhale = Sea-unicorn.

Let me know what you think and post your own whimsical, terrordriven, beautiful, dangerous and awesome hybrids!

I feel you, but alas... nothing - no matter how good looking - shall stand between me and my loot. (... unless you can tame them and make them your best friend forever of course...)
  • I like them except the horned hare: the body is made to run away not to fight. Also he cannot enter into he hole with those antlers.

hmm that's a good point, but Verra has seen some wicked changes after the cataclysm, and perhabs these hybrids were forced into being? It might not be the most practical thing for a hare, but now atleast he has a weapon to defend himself! And now that the Py'rai has returned to the forrest of Verra they could sherpherd these little fellas and keep them out of harms way

Yes, maybe they can also cast CCs and speed buffs :)

that's a really neat idea! If magic could help them grow antlers, it could help them gain the added defence and agility that they've lost duo to the antlers! A hare with magical antlers who could hypnotize their pursuers to sleep or something along those lines would be really cool! Would also make it challenging to hunt them down as a player
  • And the rabit hole could be a wormhole back into the lair B)
Could be useful as pets too.

That's an insane idea with soo much potential. Kinda makes me think about Portal... imagine that they could shoot portals out of their antlers to escape predators and others pursuers o.O
