Hiring Mercenary NPC's

Hey I just wanted to touch on this topic, but I noticed that this idea isn't mentioned much and wanted to know if this will be a thing in the game, or if it already is then what is the extent that it will be implemented?

Mercenary NPCs to do what? That's kinda vague.

For nodes, caravans, and freeholds as far as I know. Personal mercs? Maybe in a military node, with the specific social building, but it sounds just broken to run around even with one additional NPC and players from another type of node not.

I would like patrols roaming the land you could abuse to your advantage against mobs and or bosses.

They could be basic NPCs that don't have any attacks. For instance their whole purpose would just to be meat sponges for enemies and when they die you have to hire another one.

This looks like gameplay from an unskilled player who has chosen the Summoner archetype. Why do you need NPC for that?

Personally not a fan of mercs. Feels like something games add in late in life to fix lack of player base.

If you have played EQ2 or ESO. There are some real draw backs to adding NPC assistance. Content balance and also how it breaks the game when it comes to class dependancy. Gets to the point players just don't need players.
