Glorious Alpha Two Testers!

Alpha Two Realms are now unlocked for Phase II testing!

For our initial launch, testing will begin on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 10 AM Pacific and continue uninterrupted until Monday, January 6, 2025, at 10 AM Pacific. After January 6th, we’ll transition to a schedule of five-day-per-week access for the remainder of Phase II.

Having a rare mob spawn during gathering?

I wonder what you guys think about a rare mob spawning during gathering?
For example, you want to mine an ore and as soon as you hit it, it turns out it is a stone golem that looks like that ore but when you defeat it you get a higher rarity drop than you would usually get?
Same could be done for a tree turning into an ent.

I personally would love to see something like that implemented cause it would make gathering more exciting but I also heard people say they would like to turn their brain off and chill when doing gathering tasks.

    I like it, if it's doable with the current dev progress. Otherwise - something for post-release times.

    I think there should definitely be something like this. There could also be special story arcs triggered for gatherers by discovering special, rare materials, leading to a special blueprint that for example allows the construction of special siege weapons. Or following the quest leads to the discovery of a dungeon that can only be opened up by a gatherer of that special profession offering some of the special resource.
    Lots of interesting shenanigans possible there I'd say and Intrepid has a great base system to gradually add these small ideas even after launch.

    I've always enjoyed the various implementations of this mechanic type.

    I'd be glad to see some or all of them return in Ashes.

  • I like this mechanic. Not per se, but rather because of the gear design it implies.
