Religion alternate path - Agnostic or Atheist path

Myself I dont like mixing religion in my games. I often skip games that make me pledge elegance to some type of God because of my faith in RL. I will not be getting into that, its a personal choice.

I was wondering if we could make Agnostic a real path in the game that people can chose. Have your Char pledge to have no allegiance to any God because they think they are all false God's. They could dedicate themselves to cleaning the land of all of these false gods and their minions. Just my two cents. Or something like that. Any ideas?

I could get behind agnostic being a choice (when i say agnostic I mean in the sense that they just dont want to pledge to any specific god), but its hard to really create a class of people like that when you have the entire lore revolve around gods literally intervening in mortal affairs, saving all of your living civilizations by transporting them to another reality, then again funneling them back to their native world. These are undeniable acts of the gods in this fantasy world that leaves little room for doubt or reluctance toward them.

What you are asking for are lunatic sceptics that bite the hands that saved them. You could maybe argue that the tulnar could be agnostic or hostile to the gods, but im not getting that vibe so far from what we know of the lore.

But anyway, in my opinion we are being set up so that the gods are on our side, and this most likely means people against the gods will not be on our side.

While you don't have to choose any religion in the game, it's been emphasized that the gods will play an integral part in the game's over-arching story.

While it probably doesn't have a lot of weight in the vast majority of other games? You'll likely have a lot of incentive to choose one, in AoC.

I dunno how you make Atheist or Agnostic a "real path" in a world where literal gods are actively appearing and affecting what transpires.
In Ashes, you don't have to choose a deity to worship, AFAIK.
But your character would basically be delusional if they claimed that the Verran gods don't exist.
Especially seems to be a ludicrous claim when every Primary Archetype wields magic.
Verra is a High Magic Fantasy setting.

just replace god by alien. you are welcome
  • In my opinion the question of faith and religion can only be applied in real life. Video games are fantasy games whose objective is to entertain and play, I do not think that intrepid or steven created agnosticism or atheism in the game, since as a user mentioned above the gods in this game will have an important role in the lore of ashes of creation.

I read a new blip on a guy that thought he was invincible. In his life time he used his invincibility to do amazing feats that astonished many. Upon his death they did a autopsy to figure out what had gone on to this man that really did seems invincible. They found he had broken his bones, I think it was hundreds of times, and had sustained many injuries that would have hindered most people. The mind is a powerful thing.

Im the world of Ashes, someone Agnostic could be 100% delusional. We have them in RL as well. Following this path could give them access to different benefits but they would come from their benefits they are on a vengeful path to kill the fake gods and their allies. I would go so far as to say the Gods would be amused or feel pity for the lost soul and would not remove the Magic they possess.

Just because you read something does not mean it is true.
Plenty of delusional people IRL. True.
No reason for delusional people in Ashes to gain special abilities.
Your characters can be delusional if you wish them to be. Delusional characters are great for RP.

It was in main stream news. Not a jink site but my point still stands. Power of the mind could give an Ashes chars advantages outside special blessings from a god.

Feel like your missing the point and nit picking. That was just one example. I could give you thousands of examples where the power of the mind gives people amazing abilities. Shaolin Monks being another. I have taken martial arts for a very long time and its not just training of the body. The discipline of the mind and the will to do something, gives people the ability to do things most could not. Again, my point still stands. This would not break lore.

Uh hunh... and my point still stands.
But we should be done with discussing that here.
    Have a great day.
