Some combat highlights from February's AoC Commission showcase stream.

For the February 29th, 2024 AoC stream on Twitch, I've shared some snippets of the combat that Steve was engaged in revolving around a commission he took on in Verra from a commission board he found on the outskirts of town. His quest was simple: to delve into the nearby wilds and cull a Minotaur population, but the further he progressed onward in his quest, the more dangerous it became as a real-time event triggered, causing quite the storm to brew.
It truly was amazing to witness the environment to shift so suddenly as lightning started to sprawl across the terrain and it was very unforgiving. Not only are players subjected to the effects of the terrain, but monsters as well.

Here you can see a spawned Minotaur taking significant damage from a lightning strike.
I'd wager that you may see this mechanic even in future fights for raids or elite bosses, so take notes, y'all, because we can expect other forms of weather that may also pose a threat, such as ice storms/blizzards, poisonous bogs, or magical storms we haven't even fathomed to exist yet.
A personal favorite though is watching steve go from not ded, to well... very ded.

The amount of damage that Steven's character inherited was very significant. He had 600hp remaining at about 70%ish percent of his life left and that bolt wiped him out at 700dmg. Granted this may of course be tweaked in the future, but if you happen to be exploring in Verra and a thunderstorm starts brewin', you betta pray to Resna, the god of Hope and run for cover lol.
Another highlight in combat that had me floored was the resurrection graphic which looks just absolutely stunning.
Steven being resurrected by GM Tyler
Seeing these types of graphics displayed in the game are always a boon to witness in my opinion. It speaks well to the detail and time taken to really create a well-rounded MMO experience. From the appearance of the Phoenix holding strong symbolic ties to resurrection magic, to the caster who is seen also performing movements in their casting animation in order to effectively execute the spell, it's just all around a chefs kiss.
Of course, as Intrepid studios continues to hammer away and bring Verra to life before our very eyes, things are always subject to change, but how absolutely stunning is this combat starting to shape up to, right?! Let me know your thoughts on all of this, or even great ideas about treacherous weather systems!

I will be looking forward to it, if he just wasn't shown intentionally - > to not make a Spoiler out of this named NPC's (small Boss's ?) Existence and what he can do.
But i never catched with my Eye the Minotauer that the other Minotauer send You to assassinate. . 😁

The Stormcaller Minotaur appeared after Steven killed a few other Minotaurs prior, and it came with the storm, tho I don't think it's a spoiler for any questlines, but I have no clue honestly!
Now that I think of it, that storm caller actually took damage to the storm it called. Silly goose moment.
